LOL I'm sorry, I couldn't help but laugh. I understand you were not laughing at the time. I had an aunt and uncle who owned a ranch. He was a rodeo cowboy and taught me to ride. I happen to love horse.

Well, I'm glad you laughed. It is funny now although it wasn't so funny then. I like the idea of writing some humorous.

Our years living in Town Jim and I met many people who shared your dream. Most of them became disillusioned, but some stayed the course and became 'horse people' and enjoyed it. We loved having horses and Jim was living his dream when we bought the ranch. I was a city girl but loved every minute of it once I learned to ride. Well done. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy, I wish I'd had an opportunity to learn to ride in the right way. One should never put someone as green as me on an untrained and unpredictible horse.

Oh, Beth, I'm so sorry, but, I had to laugh!! OMG, you must have some muscles in your arms and legs to have been able to stay on a runaway horse whose only ambition was to knock you off his back!! LOL. I bet you never sat on a horse again. I did enjoy reading this, my friend, I'm sure your black and blue body wasn't impressed, though! Lol! :)) Sandra xxx

Thank you Sandra. I glad you laughed because it makes me laugh too, now that it is history. It wasn't funny at the time but I love memories that give me a change to laugh at myself.

I enjoyed listening to your story is a very interesting and fun story. It reminds me of the days when I was a kid growing up on the farm. We had two horses one was Brownie and the others name was Bay. Brownie was a very gentle horse, but Bay was a very active hard riding hard running horse. When the little ones would get on the back of Brownie she would always walk very slowly, but when the older ones got on her back Brownie ran more aggressively.Patricia

"owned an horse" should be owned a horse.

If you lived in the city, with no place to keep a horse, why did you get him?

"starting to dream" should be started to dream.

What a wild first ride, but horses can feel when an inexperienced rider crawls up on them.

Perhaps selling him was best and all is well that ended well?

Thank you, Brett. I appareciate the review, the comments and the corrections. We had actually purchased acreage about thirty miles out of the city, and my husband was hoping to built and move there. We did eventually have a cattle ranch there, but it didn't
happen as soon as my husband had hoped.

I can relate. I owned several for the children to ride and I bought one from a young college student for my oldest daughter. She did well and won many blue ribbons. I can see you and Lucky on that day. Thank God you made it.

Thank you for the review. I wish it could have worked out so we could keep the horse. We had bought 149 acres but weren't in a position to move there and since the horse was too unpredictive for the children it was best we sell him.

You're such a great storyteller! I chuckled at "read me like a flashing neon billboard" and " held on like an embedded tick." And I'm so glad that YOU are lucky, your guardian angel was watching over you!

Missing end quote after : "Whoa, boy!

Thank you, Helen. I'm glad you found my story funny. I was glad my guardian angel helped me stay on that horse. We've laughed about that ride many times since.

Very well-written story. It kept me focused and pulled me along nicely.
Might want to fix, "we did have daughter who starting to dream of horses."
I must say, Lucky was smart if anything. I think he did have you figured out!
Thanks for the great read.

Thi is a whale of a tale and being a once-upon-a-time sailor tickle my blubber, which I have gained since departing the USN. The flow was easy to follow, the vocabulary humorous but cogent. I told a tale much like your personal experience except instead of trying to throw me over the fence he tried but rubbing again it at a full gallop. Frightening.

Thank you for a great review. I'm glad it tickled your blubber. It sounds like seamen might not be the best of cowboys.

Seems to me that you really weren't ready or prepared to own a horse, and that the horse's beauty was the real reason you jumped in.

I laughed at your ride through the meadow of low branches! Smart horse...

Excellent story, Beth.

Thank you, John. I would have loved to have a video of that ride. I know it would be worth plenty of laughs.
