But it also suggests conflict. Wars are waged by those who claim they are set apart by God. I know you mean something different, Roy, but the rhetoric is flammable. Those who claim to be favored by God are often the worst offenders of His commandments.
Again, I know you mean something else. But your words can be misconstrued.

I sincerely hope that's not what you think of me, Lee, The bible is quite clear that one is set apart by God to only have freedom to love, not judge, not to be an executioner, or be coerced. And to my knowledge no major war in the last several centuries has been caused because of Christendom, show me one if there is other ideologies have, and yet we have to wear the constant accusations! My blessings, Roy.

No, Roy, of course I don't see you in that way. Religions and churches muddy the waters when they set themselves apart--in God's eyes. The bloody wars between the Catholics and the Protestants in Northern Ireland demonstrate the way ideology gets perverted. It's the same with the current Islamic wars. Some Muslims think Allah has set them apart--that they're better than the 'infidels'. Christians and Jews are the infidels.
Please don't take this personally, Roy. But when one group of people claims to be set apart--favored--by God, conflict always follows.
I respect and mire you, Roy. I'm only concerned about the 'set apart' line. All too often, those are interpreted as fighting words. I know that's not your intention. Lee

I wasn't offended, I just used a scriptural term that Christ Himself used, and those that believe, anyone can call themselves what they will, but whether they are or not is problematical, I consider you a very intelligent, discerning man, so I'm not disputing, just explaining the use!
