Great job on this ode. Written well. Congratulations for winning the contest. The shoe is on the other foot with the humans caged and the lion (and other animals) roaming free. Marilyn

A well deserved win here for the Ode competition - how different the world now looks and acts - and our wild life have 'freedom to roam'- thanks for sharing

Good for them! Finally got their space for a change. I like this very much. The picture is beautiful. Not too close though, would I care to stand. Best wishes!

I think this is a good entry for the Ode 5-7-5 writing prompt.
This short verse tells of lions in Africa having their kingdom back.
Well done and I wish you luck with the contest.

That's one way to look at it. People now can understand what a caged animal feels. The loss of freedom is little thought about until it is lost, and then finally appreciated. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

An excellent 5-7-5 poem for the ode contest
with a relevant comment about freedom and lock down
that many will relate to.
Excellent choice of picture to match.
Nicely done.

I have seen the news clips about how wild animals are reclaiming their domain because there are no people around. I like the irony of the Speaker's observations. Rod

Since this started (I think) from eating tainted exotic meat - some sci fi author might it as a Zoo-like story where the animals planned their revenge . . . pardon my flight of imagination. What an interesting reversal of events.

There was a book and tv series about that topic - animals seeking revenge on man for his domination. There are lions sleeping on the roads in South Africa now - because there are less traffic and less tourists. They feel less threatened. Let them enjoy a bit of freedom. Thanks for stopping by to read and review.

I think we may be talking about the same series? Zoo, based on a book by James Patterson?

Exactly.

I like how one group's caging is another group's freedom. Now we know how they feel. I love the picture you chose to complement your poem. He looks so free and satisfied, and it's like he's saying, "now it's your turn."
I love it!

lol that's what I thought when I saw this lion. He looked a little smug and self-satisfied. Truly a reversal of the roles. Thanks for dropping by to share your thoughts.
