You did a great job of crafting a story without the letter 'a.' Cleverly, you proposed a world without the letter, and made the reader feel a great loss.
I didn't find any nits - at least none jumped out at me. I think the piece flows well, and tells a story.
Thank you for sharing and I'm glad you enjoyed the prompt.

Interesting viewpoint in pointing out the absence of "a" and especially enjoyed how you found a great replacement for cat "four-footed, furry friend." Good luck in your contest--this should get extra points for wit.

I imagine this was hard to write. I remember one prompt about writing a story without punctuation. That meant no spaces or "enter" key. I still have mine around here someplace. I don't think I'd want to attempt one with no "a".
Hey! How about one without vowels? Only a space where they'd be.

Thank you. What the heck, it looked interesting so I gave it a shot. It didn't win the contest but it was fun, and that's mainly why I write, to have fun.

That IS why I write, prettybluebirds.
When I retired, I looked around for a cheap hobby that didn't require a lot of travel. Fiction writing fit the bill, even though I had to relearn high school grammar from fifty years before.
Writing for a hobby doesn't require deadlines or bosses looking over my shoulder. Not worrying about publishing eliminates frustration on rejection. And you can't beat the cost.

You did a really good job not using the a--and you couldn't even tell us what letter you had to not use. :P I think I like all the letters, myself.

Thank you. Yep, me too. The letter A is such a vital letter that it is hard to write without it.

Nice job writing without the forbidden letter :)
Just writing this response without it proved to trip me up some too, so I must use it just once... very creative!! :)
Blessings, wondertwin!!

Thank you. Harder than it looks, huh? I thought it would be simple but I was fooled.

I don't know who you are, author, but I came to support some of the story authors who always support my work and found this.
You really have a knack with the pen. Witty and wonderfully light, oh, so needed as to remind the versatility of writing.
A jolly well done.
Good luck in the competition.
Best wishes,
RGstar

Thank you, my friend. It was a fun challenge. I got beat but the other writer deserved it, theirs was really terrific.

This tale of a missing letter was amusing and thought provoking. I do believe you excluded the letter A from each word of this write. Well done and the best of luck in the contest...
