OH NO, YOU DID NOT! This is too funny. This is very bold and you have really stretched your imagination here, to come up with this crazy scenario. It's hard to imagine someone really doing this, but that's why it's called fiction! I think you have a winner for the contest.
I trust the funeral home was carpeted, so Sally didn't hurt herself when she fell down!

OMG, that was so funny, Carol, that is the type of joke that could give someone a heart attack! Lol. I'm sorry I didn't see this one and vote it really was a fabulous 'surprise' story. Well done, my friend. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra

Thanks for reading and enjoying. I appreciate it Sandra. Trying to catch up on all the posts since I slept the day away. It was odd to have 103 temp and a blanket on in 94 degree heat... I couldn't stop shivering. Tomorrow will be a better day so I am looking forward to that. Smiles, Carol

Brilliant--if this doesn't win I'll be PISSED--I had to read it twice to get it--ingenious twist. You truly have a diabolical bent! I expect to be back with congrats.

Thank you so much, Liz. You flattered me. I thought it was fun to write and you enjoyed it so we came out on top...not in the contest, but oh well. Smiles, Carol

That almost justifies first-degree murder in my house. We all know somebody like that. What a wonderfully written story.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

I am afraid it would be a close run off in mine as well. I take things seriously so practical jokes (especially serious ones) aren't funny to me...too many tragedies so I think everything is real.
Thanks for the awesome review. Smiles, Carol

Your writing is clear and led up to the surprise really well. Best wishes for your entry.

Thanks Wendy... Have no idea where this thought came from because I don't really care for practical jokes...usually someone gets upset. Guess that's why I write...to do things I wouldn't ever do in real life. Smiles, Carol

OMG OMG JUST IMAGINE THIS.
My skin crawled just thinking about this scene...
(Spooky fact: While attending my cousin's funeral as a small girl in the 00s I could have sworn I saw his eyes open and shut. Quick enough that nobody believes me to this day. LOL

Spooky fact: I have a picture of my daughter standing in my mom's hospital room just before she died..... Only thing is...my daughter died four years before I took the picture.
Life is strange and I guess death is even stranger. Thanks for the review. Have a great day!

This is a great story about practical jokers. I never approved of such jokes. My dad used to always play practical jokes on his friends, mostly on the telephone. Some became upset, others became angry. Your story is a perfect example. Sally fainted. Best wishes in the contest.

Dear Mystery Writer,
Ouch. Well, if she ends up dead, yes. It might have been a wee bit too much. But if she recovers, then I suppose all's well and everything's forgiven? hahahaha Some folks really will do anything for a laugh. Thanks!

Oh man, Yes, too much! He wins for sute. This is a well written story succinct yet well told. You allowed a bit of suspence before the end even with so few words.

To be honest, my muse must take all the credit for this short flash because I have no idea where it came from... It just popped into my brain and there it was. Thanks for the review. Smiles, Carol
