I really enjoyed the rhyming couplets that you created. I especially liked your description of 'love's creed.' I think that is particularly beautiful.

Your quotation of the scripture to go along with your poem really added to the experience of reading it.

Additionally, I liked the rhyming of 'sacrificed' and 'spliced'.

I am not religious, but I still enjoyed reading your couplet poem. I found it to be well written and delivered in your belief system. It flows well and has good poetic thoughts in its message... John

I liked your poem comprised of rhyming couplets, AA BB CC DD EE, that speak of your love of Jesus and God and of your spirituality. There is much in this world that we have to be grateful for. The theme of the contest was for a love poem, and this one surely fits the bill.
I did find myself looking for an iambic Heptameter rhythm with the 14 syllable lines which if used, would add to the flow.
Rose.

This is a lovely poem Roy. Everything bright and good and uplifting. If only the world were such a place.
Good alliteration in sunlight's sparkle and breeze blow.
Luke 10:27. One of my favorite scriptures. Good day! Nancy

What a magnificent poem of love for our beloved God Almighty! It is written that He comes first in our lives and I have a hunch most of all the other love poems submitted will be about people. Isn't that the way it usually goes?

It seems it takes many falls and ups and downs until we finally realize the depth of your prophetic poem and start the ladder up the musical scale to join our wonderful '"Savior" in Heaven, and as you conclude...

"I was born to hear the rhythmic beating of God's heart,
feel His loving warm embrace, let Him set me apart."
~ ~ ~

I think your references in the Bible confirm every word you have written from your heart and think it is great when writers include them. It is an easy way to plant seeds without having to say anything.

One thing, though, Roy. I am not familiar with the "OSB" version of the Bible. What does it stand for? I would love to compare the two Scriptures to the KJV that I read and go by. One minor typo (recognize) First line in third stanza.

The best of luck in the Love poetry contest.
Sincerely,
Nan

I was born to see the sunlight's sparkle in the dew,
light a candle in the dark, its firelight shine for you.

I was born to feel the breeze blow warmly on my face,
and feel the rain fall softly as, gently as God's grace.

I was born to know the sight, to recognize love's creed,
joy to plant a little seed fulfilling all your need.

I was born to understand why Jesus sacrificed,
surrender all I have to Him, heart to love be spliced.

I was born to hear the rhythmic beating of God's heart,
feel His loving warm embrace, let Him set me apart.

Roy, I like how you cared the theme of why you were born throughout this poem. Excellent rhyme (aa) helps make your testimonial of God's loving grace in your life a reality.

Very well written poem with good rhyming and telling a story to the reader why the author is born. He is born to see the sunlight's sparkle in the dew and to feel the breeze warmly on his face. Born to love and understand Jesus creed and lastly feel the rhythmic beat of God's heart. Good luck with the contest.

Hello Roy

I love your opening couplet, and combined with that superb image it certainly draws your reader into your poem. I little different to a standard love poem. The love for God and His gifts surely shines through here. It also calls to the reader to ponder the gifts of love they have received and to be grateful and joyous.

Great technique in your repeat phrase, makes it so much more personal between you and God and you and your reader. I know you are full of love ... I read it always in your work. :) Great work. PS Hope you're enjoying your holiday. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

I love the different take on this love poem, Roy. If we don't have a love for God, we can't have a great love for others.
and feel the rain fall softly as, gently as God's grace. - a very touching line
Best wishes in the contest.

This is a really good love poem. I like the flow and it was different. Usually these poems are about the other half of the partnership, but yours was about the son of god. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.
