This is a cute poem, Brooke. I especially like the ending where another tree can grow. Rhythm and rhymes are good as always. Nice. Miss Sally

Dear Brooke: This is an interesting lesson in Mother Nature's endless book of lessons about her endless power and a great gift for one to read and understand. Life goes on and there's always a purpose. Lovely work...I'll bet this puts a smile on Sawyer's face..I did on mine! Cheers Vance

Very good.
I loved the story quality of this piece. The progressive nature of the acorn countdown was delightful. The rhymes were consistent and strongly set to keep the tempo moving forward.
Great job.

"Seven acorns graced the tree
where hung a wooden swing.
When swinging rocked one acorn loose,
the others heard a ping."
...What, the ground was made of metal, LOL? Perhaps the swing had a metal seat, and that's what made the "ping'-ing sound. Hey, don't laugh...it could happen!

I really enjoyed this, Brooke. Clever and inventive use of storyline and rhyming. A perfect, impeccable meter (as always), and an ending that says, quite succinctly, that nature is always with us, and ever-growing. The beautiful cycle of life, 'ey?

Great work!

Hi, Brooke,

Beautiful artwork!

I so enjoy your story poems---especially the countdown ones like this.

I used to go with my dad rabbit and squirrel hunting. Of course, he spent most of the time telling me to 'sit down and shut up!' I wouldn't listen, so he'd threaten not to take me again, but the next time---he took me. (*,*).

Thanks for the cherished memories, indeed, my friend.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax (*.*)

Well, I can call it a night for now. Had to wait up and see if Grandmother is at it again, Sawyer. Yep! She said nuts to the squirrels Blessings to you, Brooke.

Another great entry in the count-down suite :-)
And even though I knew there was no other logical conclusion
than the one you drew. . .I enjoyed every step of the journey :-)

(one small suggestion. . .you might consider adding "up" after snatched in the next to last line. It just seems to flow more naturally :-)

I love your counting poems and I'm sure
Sawyer does as well.
This is very clever with charming scenes
for the count-down.
I love the message of hope at the end. all is not lost as a new acorn tree will grow and produce a whole new family of little acorns! Life goes on. Nancy
