This was a delightful romantic poem of opposites that meet, then not sure of her, she comes forth and stays. I really enjoyed the read. It wasn't until I had finished it did I realize who had wrote it. Beautifully done. It was a quite lovely to read.

The rhyme scheme is consistent, and the meter works (though, when read aloud, sounded forced/awkward in places - 1st stanza, lines 1 & 2, for example); however, the poem progressed so well, it was easily negated. A sweet little subject/message is delivered in this poem's narrative, and its sentiment is appreciated for the season.

I just read it aloud to myself again and it flowed for me, but there is always the chance that others pronounce or accent words differently. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. Brooke :-)

adewpearl,
You have quite an imagination! Your ottava rima shares a fantasy tale with excellent rhymes and vivid imagery. A fairy and a tin soldier ornament coming to life and falling love.
I always enjoy a happy ending:
"that Christmas day when wishes all came true
as his sweet fairy whispered, "I love you."

This is such a sweet and well written poem for Christmas. You had perfect rhyme without forcing it. It flowed smoothly and was a very enjoyable read. There is nothing like a little romance on the Christmas tree. I didn't see any changes that were needed!

Aw, so cute! Wish I had me a tin soldier for Christmas. You too, I bet. Yeah, I know, a Sean Connery look alike who would wake up and say. "Merry Christmas, Schweetheart!" LOL!
Loved your little tale. You're very entertaining, you know. In a very rhythmic kind of way. LOL!

Thank you, Adrienne. Don't go teasing me with Sean Connery possibilities! LOL Brooke :-)

You're outdoing yourself again with two verses--I still haven't try a one verse version! I enjoyed your Cinderella story with a male protagonist. Your personification of the ornaments and your rhymes were delightful.

Again Brooke, if I had six! I know I keep promising... again this one surely deserves the top prize. I absolutely loved this fanciful Christmas love story.
I'm all teary eyed... :)
Cheers and happy fairy thoughts! LOL... Jack xoxox

What a sweet fantasy-type poem this is. You never know what miracles will take place on Christmas Day. Your rhyming scheme is very good and the lines flow smoothly.

Hullo Brooke ...
I enjoyed reading about this little Christmas Tree
romance but your picture is of Teddy Bears sharing an embrace!
There is nothing to suggest changing and I thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from .... Nanette Mary.

Nanette Mary - I could not find a suitable illustration on Fan Art no matter how hard I looked - this is just as close as I could come. LOL Thanks so much :-) Brooke

I really like this although I was heretofore unfamiliar with this poetic form.
You did a good job of creating emotional images which the reader can acutely feel.
