Sawyer is surely intrigued by bugs, isn't he? I wonder what the branch of science is called for studying bugs or other life forms. You daughter should get him a white scientists coat and an ant farm. No, we wouldn't want that to tumble and break in the house!
Nicely done, Brooke. Great children's poem. John

etymology :-) Thanks so much, John - I think he's a little young for an ant farm - he might not be careful enough with it to protect it. LOL At 26 months it's usually best not to trust the little tykes LOL Thanks so much, John :-) Brooke

I just love your ability to see the world through the magical eyes of a child, the playfulness and imagination expressed in all of your work.

Beautiful work as always. Some questions make no sense, but in a child's mind they are worth asking. That is the beauty of being a child. Children never get tired of asking questions and learning. Through the mind of a child come great inventions.

I must use Google a hundred times a day. I'm not a newfangled kind of person, but Google and You Tube are my new best friends :-)

you tube is way more than cute kitten home videos - you can see all kinds of music, and I mean all kinds including renaissance choral music, and historical stuff, like performances from many decades ago - you can see famous poets reciting their own work - you name it and you can see it :-)

Well there you go. I need to venture out then. lol thxs for the info Brooke

Excellent rhyming couplets in this light hearted poem. Just one to be read and enjoyed especially by children.
Was this poem inspired by Sawyer playing with that bug?
Seems so.

Thank you, emrpoems, for your thoughtful review. Yes, almost all the poems I write that include a photo of him are inspired by the photo :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke, I never heard of a Roly poly insect, but I love your poem,
I could hear a group of children reciting this in a play group.
I think Sawyer is going to be an anthroË?pologist
Well written, I enjoyed it.

Pure and simple cuteness. I suppose there is a fascination with bugs in general for kids. Some of them just to finds to keep away from them and others like Sawyer (and myself when I was a child) just play with them in awe of how something so small can live a life so unique to our own.

Gingerly. Growing up in the country I learned to accept and not fear most things, but bugs still get me. The story is clever, & cute, but the fascinating experience is the ease of the rhyme. Kenny

Cute, clever, whimsical andw ell-rhymed and timed, as usual from your pen, my friend. Cute picture too--as usual when it's Sawyer! I particularly enjoyed the self-deprecating satire in this stanza:
Some questions don't make any sense
since they don't leave us in suspense.
If there's no chance the answer's no,
then let that goofy question go!
Hee hee. A silly question but it makes for good kid's poetry.
Love,
rd
