You describe home so poetically, Linda. I enjoyed reading your well-crafted poem. I can tell that this is written from experience of many, or all, of the great examples you included. Your line flow smoothly with good use of scattered rhymes. I like the image you paired with your heartfelt words--like kids or anyone leaving home. the ending line is perfect to end your poem with special meaning.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

This poem is lovely! This message what "home" is warmly reminds us of the wonderful place to house our hearts. You captured that feeling well and also allowed for us to have a bit of a catharsis (a lot of good and a lot of bad happens at home, but it is home nonetheless!). The picture ties this all together very nicely, too! Thanks for sharing! :)

Hello Livelylinda,
It's a nice piece of Biographical Poetry having Lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, smooth flow almost throughout from the beginning to the end, and beautifully depicting "Home! The Qualities of Home."
Particularly noteworthy are the words:
"when there is nowhere else to go
go home"

Your poem relates all the wonderful memories that are made at home, or a least should be. When I worked in daycare decades ago I felt bad for all the toddlers wh experienced those firsts at the center. Your poem tells it like it should be. Almost made me tear up. You get my last six

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. You hit on so many things that make a home special. It is well written, poignant, and simply very nicely done. I love your last two lines.

Absolutely. My wife has become such a homebody that getting her to leave our home is next to impossible. I like to leave to go to the store, but after a short time, I am anxious to get back home. Yes, I am a bit of a homebody myself. For me the great joy is in returning home from wherever. We have lived in our house for 42 years and counting. It is the only house most of my children and grandchildren know. We have been told that we must never move or let go of our house. Even my grand daughter's closest friends say that our house feels like home to them. So, I guess we are stuck here.

What a beautiful story you tell - you hit the high points of a life - and particularly the type of things that are important markers. I can definitely relate to this part:
"where your hair grows grey
and your body gets a little fluffy
your cheeks get a little puffy"

ha ha, yes! Most definitely. And you wrapped it up perfectly, "Go home."
Well done!
Thank you for sharing,
Susan

I think itt was Holmes who wrote the poem "No Place Like Home." I remember as a soldier when trying to describe what you are saying in your nice write. Thanks for sharing your poem.
