Adewpearl: These are very hard times for family and friends. I am sure that Maureen loves you very much and her friends at FS. She will follow the light and be at peace with Jesus smiling at her. Whether healed on earth or heaven, Maureen has touched hearts. May the candle burn. Well written. Congrats on the award.
P.S. I read Roald Dahl's books: George's Marvelous Medicine and The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. I noticed that he likes the word "and." Roald was very creative and funny. Have a blessed weekend precious Brooke and family!

Hi Brooke
I really enjoyed your octogram for Maureen. I've written a few of these lately. Love the form, and of course you lay it out perfectly.
"One flame can penetrate the night"
The lighting of a candle for our dear friend penetrates the darkness and detaches despair as we offer a prayer to the Father of lights. I hope that all Maureen's friends will follow your lead and (carefully) light a candle and whisper her name to God. Perhaps those with a voice will sing a song for her too. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all her friends and fans would sing this one... "I've Got A River Of Life (Spring Up, O Well)" while a candle flickers?

There's holy energy in both the song and the light. And that's what Maureen needs right now. When she can't be positive, we need to be positive for her, and speak healing thoughts. Our prayers need to rise up like an altar. Together, we can be that river for her... "I've got a river of life flowing out of me. It makes the lame to walk and the blind to see. It opens prison doors and sets the captives free. I've got a river of life flowing out of me."
I especially like the alliteration in this line,
"for while despair dwells deep in dark"
and I love the sentiment in this line,
"hope lives within the slightest spark"
My earlier rant is summed up by your line,
"One candle's lit to lead the fight
as doubt is spurned."
Nicely penned for our courageous warrior.

Beautiful. I don't know her but all the tributes to her here from so many good people makes it easy to know she's a wonderful woman. I'll keep praying for her. Great poetry, Brooke.

This is so beautiful. It made me cry. I have been burning a candle for Maureen every day the past week. I have also been going to the Cathedral down the street to lite a candle for her. My heart just breaks for what she and her family are going through. Marvelous work with this one. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

This poem is about finding hope in the darkest places. Very touching. Nice use of alliteration as well. Even when all seems at its darkest three's always a light to guide us through the way.

One flame can penetrate the night is a powerful line that brings forth strong feelings and emotions. Your poetic form make this a smooth flow of words. Your words are encouraging to Maureen and others, the image of the candle is a positive one.

Beautiful poem for one who has one of the most beautiful spirits I have ever encountered. Each candle is a piece of the sun, hope for life and light. Have one lit here and I pray that Maureen finds her way home.

This beautiful poem touched me; and I thought about why a candle is such a powerful image.
A candle is the symbol of God's presence in the world. A candle's light wipes out darkness, its flame sends out warmth. Candles draw people together, and remind us all how love is a binding force. I was moved reading these lines--
for while despair dwells deep in dark,
hope lives within the slightest spark.
For every heart that ever yearns,
a candle burns.
This poem deserves 6 stars, and for once, I'm out. So sorry. I guess I've been handing them out like halloween treats.
Cheers, DW
