Brooke, you raise some powerful arguments against the philosophies of those so often quoted. I realize that metaphor is used liberally by these noted writers, but yours contains reality. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

I love it when you make me work a little. I had to look up chain rhyme, and then see how you applied it.
An interesting subject. I certainly hope you are right and we have free will. If we are only playing assigned parts, then what would be the point?

I had to read this one twice. I loved the way the words flowed. I think Shakespeare is saying Bravo. Superb, simply superb, Brooke.

It is not that, I don't like your Sawyer poems, I do enjoy reading them. I have to admit though, that I love this one more for its strong social message. It made me ponder and for a change, I am looking forward to more thought provoking poems like this one. Excellent, God bless.

Excellent aaba bbcb ccdc dddd rhymes
good use of alliteration
Even though we have free will we are psychologically bound to many behaviors.

The questions asked in your well penned poem are definitely the questions of life.
If life is just a part I play, directed by some puppeteer, who tells me what I must obey, then what would be my purpose here.
Good job, I enjoyed the form and the references to Shakespeare .

A philosophical question stated in a poem and asks the reader to consider the thoughts of free-will versus predestination. I have to vote freewill.
I'm not a student of Shakespeare but I always took his use of metaphor in this regard to we humans being actors on so many levels. We perform and try to write our own scripts but we cannot write it for others, therefore have little control of the final production.
Without accepting freewill, there is not taking responsibility for what we do.

Quite the reference for your daughter. The poem does justice to your relative history as well. This style is different, but just as good as the others you've offered. As always, I look forward to them all. :)

In this fine poem you ask a very good question, Brooke. What would be the point of living with what seems to be free will if it is all laid out ahead of time? No, I can't believe that that is the case. I like your chain poem.

Totally incredible and soul-searching poem this is, Brooke. I love how you combined works of Shakespeare with your words. Were given a masterpiece but it's up to us to write the ending. Excellent.
Smiles,
