This is a good, contemplative poem in which you have explored the uncertainties and grey areas of life. I can relate and believe many other readers will too. Nice work!

Love your rueful little last verse here Brooke - that about sums up our search for life's meaning, hmm? But expressed with your light bouncing iambics, so we hold the thought and then it flits off again, like an errant butterfly.

Clarity has no sway where human emotion is involved. A lovely commentary on the 'greys' of life, and the nature of thought itself. It really is wonderful to read your work, Brooke, as it is always thought-provoking and inspiring.

Blessings,

~ J.

Great way of putting words to such a serious look by a child. I do not know what his actual thoughts might have been, but your words certainly fit well.

It's true that as we grow older things are no longer so black and white. Even our hair turns grey! I was uncertain whether "questions" was a plural or whether it needed an apostrophe. Another grey area! Oh, dear!

Thanks so much, tfawcus - yes, I was referring to the multiple questions I mentioned at the top of the poem :-) Brooke

Clarity, a great word to write a poem about, and a thought provoking one too. Yes we hear these words "yes that's a gray area" and there is no answer to that. It is a bit like sitting on the fence.

The photo of Sawyer has captured a magic moment. when he is deep in thought.

Well written
Well done

Brooke, I love this picture of Sawyer, and you can tell he's deep in thought. I wonder what a child this age really thinks about. Your poem is just wonderful, and I want to say that as we get older, there seems to be more grays, but looking back, I think they were always there, for black and white were more in the background. If I can compare this to my painting, the only real thing that grays are used for are to change the value of blacks and whites, so basically, grays are used the most for shadows or to obscure. And I believe it's that way in life also. So that is our clarity, and know that grays aren't as bad as they seem, lol, if that makes any sense! Thanks for putting up with my rambling, lol, and I did enjoy this. ..Sharon

This one sure speaks to the way of the world today. No one takes a stand on any issue. Everything is negotiable and nothing is right or wrong. Nice poem

'Clarity' is an extremely well-written and thought-provoking piece. I have absolutely no trouble relating to this talented poet's work. Clarity is slow in arriving. It was a pleasure to read and review a work of this standard.
