This is a well written and profound poem. Your choice of words make it flow smoothly and explain the emotion within, which is almost tangible. A very heartfelt poem. Well done! And good luck in the contest.

What a nice tribute to the 23rd Psalm. That would give anyone reason to write. You did an excellent job of using that verse as your inspiration. Best of luck in the contest, Shirley

Hi, Author, I did not for one moment guessed, that this is how deep poetry means to you. I truly love your paragraph: As I hold into His promise of goodness, my blank paper bursts to overflow with a banquet of syllables dressed as seeds. and so on. It is beautifully written, as poetry itself! Thanks so much for sharing. Now see poetry in another perspective.

This is a very good interpretation of using and age old poem and give it a modern meaning. The poetic indeed worships the pen. Good luck in your contest.

You told your story well with just a few words. It was smooth, easy to read, and was very vivid. There is no denying the grace that God gives us all, as well as blessings. Good job.

As I began to read this, and the line "the stroke of poetry takes away the heaviness of my bones" and "I pick up a pen. It becomes my rod," I started to think that you were comparing the composition of poetry, with the comfort that the Lord can give. I was delighted as I read further .."As I hold into His promise of goodness, my blank paper bursts to overflow with a banquet of syllables dressed as seeds." that you were giving God the praise for you talent. This is a very skillfully written poem and has a profound meaning. Great job.

Who is this? I'm so curious---because I'm impressed and tickled by the creative adn witty new take on the psalm.

Anyway, do let me know when the contest is over....I wanna read more of your work.

loved this-

My spirit is dimpled and dented and I feel a pull to completeness; the stroke of poetry takes away the heaviness of my bones.

and--

So I pick up a pen. It becomes my rod. I grasp it light, knuckles soft and mild, fingers ready to dance, heart and hands in perfect release of relentless pursuits, and I wait for my Shepherd's comfort.

THIS IS AWESOME-
my blank paper bursts to overflow with a banquet of syllables dressed as seeds.

So is this-

Each seed becomes a blossom and my freckled fingers feel the call to gather its petals in a symphony of rhythms, music, light.

love the choices and phrases-
They guide me to celebrate the birth of a child, the verdant peak of a tree, the square root to infinity.

one nit

As I hold into His promise of goodness,
Suggestion:
As I hold onto His promise of goodness,

Very nice work. A perfect closing and an excellent entry. Strong contender!

Warmly, rd

I think it works very well to build your need to write poetry around the 23rd Psalm.
I like the imagery of the pen as a rod and a banquet of syllables dressed as seeds.
The essay flows poetically along as it roughly follows the outline of the Psalm.
An unusual approach - but I think it works.
My best wishes for the contest.

Juliette
