HI Deewater, this is about the soldiers that had to be at war...so very sad...very well written...and the picture speaks for itself...

It's too bad you couldn't put up a picture of a World War I trench full of soldiers waiting to go "over the top" when the whistle blew. This is what your words draw a picture of for me. The senseless carnage of men charging forward into the teeth of the enemies fire, and not really gaining anything from it.

A hauntingly beautiful yet sombre poem about the first world war, I too have covered this tragedy on here with 'Forgotten soldier'your poem is exquisite and well versed, and says all it needs to say about a war that shouldn't have been allowed to happen.

This is good, seriously good. It so easily could have been written by one of our Australian soldiers in the landing of Gallipoli in 1914. It has that ring to it.

Your words certainly have painted the image of hopelessness and blind courage of those young and naïve soldiers.

Like I said, a great write

Hi. Sure captures the desolate lost hope of the eastern front, or any war really. Especially those far from homeland.
So silly to send men away.

this is a fine social commentary on war and the soldiers forced to play along! the only thing that is totally out of selfish is the soldier who will die for you.
thank you for sharing!

Patriotism and nationalism was what seemed to drive men to kill each other. World War 1 led to the second one, and so on. Most wars are a waste, except for one I can think of. World War II, but it also was not ended right. We let communism thrive. Very thought provoking. Les

Good alliteration with wounds/will...blister/black...carnage/chosen...bayonets/battle...love/left. Good use of the abcb rhyme scheme. Good rhythm and flow. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message.
