Hi friend, your note is very dark. only the tree survived. What about the others.
Great imagery ,enough to tell a great sad story.

Yes, Danny, there is enough here to tell a sad story. I know of several scarred trees along my route to work in which the driver did not survive. Thank you for your review of my dark haiku.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written haiku. An accident happens very quickly. Before we can react it is over and the damage us done. The only thing left to do is to count the losses and say thank you to be still alive.

Yes, Sandra, "The only thing left to do is to count the losses and say thank you to be still alive." Thank you for your review.
Comment from Mustang Patty
This piece is sad. I guess I'm relating to all of the damage left by this year's harsh storms. I can't help but think that the glass is from someone's car. I hope they have good insurance. As always, your poetry has brought up all kinds of thoughts and imagery to me. Thank you for sharing,

You're welcome, Patty. I'm glad I kept my author's notes sparse to free up reviewers' interpretations. Thank you for your review.

It sounds very pretty, but truth be told I'm not getting it. I know you write what you see, so I'm guessing you spotted broken glass at the bend of a road?

Thank you, Heidi, for your review of my haiku, even though my haiku left you befuddled. The answer: the broken glass and scarred tree at the bend of a road are remnants of a car crash. Thank you again. Hugs.

I was wondering about that. I thought of that after. Again too early in the morning when I read it.
Hugs Heidi

You have certainly got a talent for writing Haikus.
This the aftermath of a car crash into a tree and the scar it has left on nature is just so clever.
Beneath a scarred tree....this line paints a thousand pictures
Have a great day

Yes, YNWA, many noticed the scarred trees alongside the road but have you ever examined the shattered glass left behind? That is never cleaned up and the tree is scarred for life. Even worse is, "What happened to the drivers?"
Thank you for your review and for raising my talent as a Haiku writer.
Comment from Hitcher
Nice! A clever little haiku friend, leaves the reader wondering just how server the accident might have been, the mind leaning towards fatal because of the scared tree. I like it !

Yes, Hitcher, whenever I pass these scarred trees above shattered glass along a road I wonder what happened to the driver. I know of several scarred trees along my route to work where the drivers died. This evening I thought about stopping by one such tree and tacking this haiku to it in memorial to a teen who died at the bend in the road, but I felt it would be too dangerous for me to stop. Thank you for your review.

No need for help here, kahpot, the scarred tree and the shattered glass are the remnants of a crash that has been cleared away at the bend in the road. You are very perceptive and intuitive. thank you for your review.
Comment from DR DIP
I knew this was a road accident just from the image and your words confirmed that. The beauty of haiku is that it can be very cryptic And the meaning does not always jump out at you straight away. Your words paint the perfect picture and the result in just 3 lines.

Yes, Dip, my haiku appeared cryptic to one reviewer but if your read slowly and use your imagination you can see the picture I am painting. I use subtlety and not language that jumps out at you. Hey, I am writing about cherry blossoms! the reader has to think to solve this puzzle and is still left with the question, "What happened to the driver?" Thank you for your review.
-
Well you have certainly thrown me about cherry blossums Sis I thought it was a road accident.
I will read this a few more times for different interpretations. Sometimes I find with haiku that a picture shape an entirely different interpretation to the words.

No, Dip, it's not about cherry blossoms. I was using that as an example of the most common haiku subject. You are right. It's about a car accident.
Comment from Ella25
Another beautifully written haiku, Andre. The image exquisitely expresses the words. The message is clear; this is what humans do to nature. Litter and destroy as the glass in the hot sun can start the fire. Excellent work. Blessings, Ella
