Such vivid descriptions of feelings related to the ring. I could feel myself in those moments. Also, the opening paragraph is tightly written- all thriller, no filler. It sucked me in and kept me reading.

This is a very well written piece. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but I know everything we go through helps us grow and become stronger. I can relate to much of your story. I had three guys say they wanted to marry me before I was 20 years old. So thankful I didn't marry then. Although, it didn't save me from more craziness. Best wishes in the contest. Thanks for sharing and yep, still love ya!~

Hi, Karen

= You are so right -- don't matter!
= I believe most of us go through a period of doing what is expected of us by other peeps around us.
= I did for many years. Now, DON'T MATTER (*<*) (*<*)
= Life's lesson learned.
= At least you had the good sense to end it early, and not drag the unhappiness around for many years--both being miserable.
= Excellent story telling, my friend.
= Great entry. Good luck in the contest.

Hi, Karen.
What stands out the most is the story is your return to happiness. It takes guts to admit when we make a mistake and courage to do something about it. You have both. How easy it is to be swept up in the wave of parties and excitement, turning off that inner voice of warning. You realized this and didn't hold onto a relationship that had no future. I really like the advice from your boss, a wise man. Your real friends and people that love you won't judge.
Best of luck in the contest.
Bye
Rosalyne :)

Thanks, Rosalyne. It was a long time ago and I sometimes feel like it was a bad dream. I dont even mark the divorce box when I fill out an info sheet. lol

Boxergirl, this was an interesting read. Your wanting to have your freedom, may well be what many men and women need to do, and not be pressured into a marriage.
All the way through the story it was Don you were marrying yet in the it seems Paul was the man,
I was a beautiful bride, and Paul, a handsome groom. Wasn't Don the groom, not Paul?

This isn't the kind of thing I usually seek out, and I wouldn't wish marriage on Ahriman, but it is written well, in good order, Excellent.

Wow, That's a very well told story of a particular painful time in your life. It's easy to be drawn in because the norm says that's what you have to do. Good for you that you could draw the line when you realised the mistake. Hope you have had a good life since then. Just one thing, what is a PG13 honeymoon? Can't even guess what it is. Good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla

Thanks so much for your review, Ulla. As for a PG13 honeymoon, let's just say it never had any R rated scenes. :-)

How daft I am. Never thought in what used to be picture rating. Thank you for enlightening me and of course the honeymoon takes a whole new meaning. All best.Ulla:)

Before I even read it, I have to say I love 'pharisaic sandals' - awesome imagery!

Oh, I know how society is - that is why I married at age 19 to man - to make everyone but me happy.

You were so right and strong to get out early.

I love your story. You told it very well. Great language and imagery.

Good luck in the contest.
