Wow, Sharyn. I sure "fiercely loved" this bright & cheery presentation. I am quite sure that Brooke will too.
Such a wonderfully composed and uplifting sonnet, for the most part, tinged with a just the right amount of melancholy. Time goes by so quickly, it seems. One day, you're young, alive and in love. Then you wake up one sunny morning to find it's all disappeared, seemingly in the blinking of an eye.
Wonderful writing, Sharyn. I'm sure Brooke will absolutely love this!

Hi Sharyn, this is a lovely sonnet for Brooke and pays homage to her love of dandelions, sunflowers and faith. I think everyone was taken by surprise and thrown for a loop when her health situation was discovered. I think this outpouring of love and support is just what she and her family need right now.

I'm really loving on all this attention and focus on Brooke. I didn't know she had taken ill until I began reading all of the Ode and tributes to her. I really love you tender poem and pray that Brooke returns to us soon.

One never knows when that cloud shadow is going to obscure the rainbow for us. The only thing that is sure is that one day it will. Your final couplet sums up a great philosophy! May the brightness keep the three spinners busy weaving the golden threads you supply!

When I read poems such as yours, I smile, for I am reminded that there are true poets out there! I don't mean to sound unkind to others, but I am being truthful in that many are not so talented. I myself, am able at times, to produce moments worth a read, but strive to come to a level such as this. I also know the poet for whom this is written is among the artists most gifted.

What an incredible entry into the sonnet contest! A paean to our dear friend Brooke, who loved the form so much. Excellent use of iambic meter, great flow and cadence. A lovely picture. Brooke told me she loved putting pictures in her poems. I do too, they liven the rhyme (smile).
It may be a personal thing, but while I compliment you on the use of enjambment, it is a bit overdone when it cuts into the final couplet. Again, it may be just me, and I am only one reviewer.
I think Brooke would enjoy this poem very much when she is well and comes back on the site.

Thanks Sally - I do hope she's able to return. Like you, I started reading sonnets and not particularly liking a lot of enjambment, but I guess I've been won over a little. Look on the bright side - at least the last line of the couplet wasn't enjambed, right? he he he ... but yes, a matter of personal taste, I know. :)Sharyn

Sharyn, I am Yelena, not Sally (smile). Enjambment is a matter of preference and personal taste; I use very little of it in my sonnets.
