this is very well written, barbara, a great job writing this chapter is great and you've set up the contentious mother in law we'll have to watch out for as well as her son, i'm glad you had a good time on your vacation

This is a very difficult chapter to write I would suspect, as it gives visual proof of what Tammy has gone through, then to have a mother-in-law show up that is in total denial of the evil her son has done..good job..God bless. Glad you had a wonderful vacation and got to be with those that you love and they love you. God bless.

It is indeed surprising to note, "While women are less likely than men to be victims of violent crimes overall, women are 5 to 8 times more likely than men to be victimized by an intimate partner."
You have taken up the issue of violence against women and the broken marriages i this novel. It is indeed a noble idea.
The novel, as usual,makes fine reading.

I enjoyed this read and found one small nit:
"They came with the house. I'd better leave them." This end quote should come out. It looks like you added a bit to Anna's words on a later edit.

It looks like Bobby's parents are in complete denial. At least the mother is. This is well written. It would be hard for an abused woman to go back and gather up the things she needs and then, have to listen to the mother of the abuser shooting off her mouth like this.
I could feel Anna's pain in this chapter.

Boy, I had to keep stopping and coming back to this, especial after reading about the bloodstains in the bedroom. It must be tough to write about this as you know it happens everyday and no one is there to stop it or help out. A good write my friend. It brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad to see the father-in-law isn't as blind as the mother-in-law.
