Hi,
I really liked this poem and its flow and cadence. I love the artwork....it is great. I got the imagery that you were trying to bring out of the swans grace and beauty. But for the life of me I can't forget the darn things hissing at me the last time I saw some at a University lake. lol Nice writing as usual. Cheers

Kristia, Well, they have no right to go around hissing and ruining the image I'm trying to create as their publicist!! LOL Thanks so much, Brooke :-)

This is beautiful! I love the line "seemed in it's flowing gracefulness a consequence of fairy's wand"...I also highly condone the use of the word "minstrel"...all sorts of lovely associations are bound up in that word, for me anyway.

Here on Cape Cod there are many swans on the ponds. They appear to be majestic and beautiful like you capture in this poem. I like the word curvilinear, it is a new word for me. I also like the line "a consequence of fairy's wand". Gives a magical feeling to the poem. This is an enjoyable poem to read.

I was so sad to hear a couple of readers have never once seen a swan. I'm so glad you get to see so many :-) Thank you. Brooke :-)

Hooray! Another quatern! I though about sponsoring a contest to see if we could get more people writing them.
This is a lovely image of a graceful swan. Well done!

Well done, Brooke. I particularly liked the grace of the 2nd verse.
"This creature curvilinear,
serene, its circuit of the pond,
seemed in its flowing gracefulness
a consequence of fairy's wand."

This was beautiful. I love the way you incorporated a bit of fantasy within nature. One must wonder, at times, if there is some magic going on that we don't see because it is too beautiful to comprehend.
The picture you painted was wonderful, and the art work matched it wonderfully. Serenity, in any form, is truly divine:)
Great job!

Excellent. Mino Yasue's artwork is stunning and I can see how it can inspire such a beautiful poem. I especially like the "fairy's wand" reference and in the end, chose to watch in silence. Very, very nice work!

Actually, I had the poem idea first and then found her picture among a list of candidates of swan and water lily pics :-) Hers was the only one I could find that included both. Thanks so much, Valerie. Brooke

Wow! I can't believe how beautiful and serene this poem is. Again, I'm in awe of the talent which always surrounds your poems. I especially loved the 'In spellbound captivation's hold, I watched beguiled without a word'. The articulation of these words alone is beautiful.
Thank you so much for this lovely oeuvre d'art. Regards, anabelle
