That is one of the best lessons in the Bible. You have used it perfectly for this Haiku, Fonda. I know I would throw myself under a bus for any of my family, love is something that is not worked out in monetary value. It's too pure for that. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Hi true that Jesus laid his life for us. Everybody says this. They even come and knock on my door to tell me this. And I ask them the same question, what have we done for him? Nothing till now. The world is a worse place than this it was. This saying has become a drug, Jesus sacrificed himself for us. A sheer hypocrisy!

I liked it, I am a Christian Jew, so I absolutely concur with the sentiment, but you might want to check if it doesn't have to have something to do with nature in it. I would google it. I am probably wrong, but I know they don't teach it to you properly at school. They just start with a Haiku as it is simple in some ways, they don't have to write an epistle, so to speak. I am not a formalist in any way, though, so I can't advise you further. Best of luck in the competition, and enjoy your writing, Eve.

Your haiku illustrates one of the central tenets of Christianity. The example of Jesus has been taken up here in Australia recently by several of our brave firefighters who have given their lives for their fellow men and women.

Nice job on a modern haiku with a scriptural slant. I found 'L' alliteration in 'laid,' 'Life,' and perhaps you could include 'love' in the third line with that. Thanks for posting a little reminder of what's important in life.
