This is very well done, Jesse. You address a topic that is both timely and relevant in an eloquent and candid manner. While many folks are enamored by Facebook, it is really more harmful (for many reasons) than beneficial. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

...oooohhh... when I see my name Lisa it feels very personal. Your poem certainly is something to think about. I can't be bothered with Facebook, let alone having 'transparent friends'. In fact, I did set up a facebook profile but the first message that came up said the equivalent of 'Lisa has no friends', so I swore at my computer for making me look tragic and refused to engage with facebook again.... choosing instead to spend time with 3-dimensional flesh and blood humans.
Your poem explores to concepts of real friendships, real communication, real caring... and real social issues.

Hello Lisa
I tried Facebook for a couple of weeks, but found the phoniness amongst the members, not beneficial for me, and quit it quickly. I, also like, being with real people with face-to-face interactions. Thank you for your insightful commentary on my exploration of social issues. Have a great upcoming weekend.
