This is a well written poem about the loss of a friend. I lost my mom to lung cancer, but she never smoked a day in her life. Her parents were heavy smokers though.

Thank you. as a former smoker, I deeply regret exposing so many people, my children included, to the dangerous effects of smoking. I feel so sorry for the loss of your mom.

This is so well done, great rhyme and a story as well told of a beloved friend. I am so sorry for your loss. I have a friend who went to be with the Lord and miss her much as well. Friends touch out lives in so many ways, ways we don't know until they are gone. Your poem conveys this. Really well done. Rox

Thank you Rox. I really wanted to address the bond of real true friendship. Love does not end because someone you love is no longer around, love extends far beyond time or space.

Hello, how sad that you lost your friend to cancer. It is a tragedy to watch someone you love pass in this way. I liked your poem, and I'm sure your friend would be pleased to realize how much you miss her. I noticed no errors, and thanks for sharing your poetry, Ana.

Hello Ana, I than you so much for your kind remarks. I wrote this poem for the benefit of the family and mutual friends of this dearly love d woman. The poem was written back in the 90s but sometimes, many times it feels like it was just yesterday.

This is a very moving and poignant poem. I recently lost a dear friend who was loved by hundreds of not thousands of people. He was a truly remarkable man. As smart as or smarter than Stephen Hawking, yet as humble as Mother Theresa. Normally geniuses are arrogant or can't relate to normally intellected people. That is a rare combination of genius and humility. So, you got me going here. I am sorry for your loss. You wrote a wonderful tribute. This, at the end, is my favorite part. "Old friend you must know this
You were always loved, you are always missed."

Good way to end it. I would argue that she is still loved. This poem is proof. Thank you for sharing

Thank you so much, your kind and warmhearted comment have me tearing up right now. It does my heart so much good to know that something I wrote not only touched my readers, but connected with their emotions. The person I wrote this for primarily showed their appreciation through many hugs and tears and I was overwhelmed and overcome with emotion.

I know just the exact feeling with my best buddy, Jeff, who died 5 years ago and I miss him so damn bad. I too think I s or hear him from time to time and it hurts so bad when I realized it is not Jeff! Missing someone you love and was so much a part of your life is a real bitch! Outstanding poem! Tony

I hear and feel you Tony. People who have not undergone this will one day know and understand what we are talking about. The worse part is to know that there were things left unsaid that you will now not get the chance to say. Yeah, it hurts.

Please, nomi, don't take this as me trying to cop out by pretending to live a charmed life but I believe I told Jeff everything I wanted him to know. W are both straight men but, weeeee were very close and open with each other. We are both artists (painters) and we had a special day each wk where we painted together after a feast we planned all week, some good weed, thn inspire each other while painting with each otheeeeeeeer in my crowded painting/ writing room. I told him that I loved him all the time (unembarrassed) Manly LOL Thanks for hearing me out. Tony

Heartache can do strange things. This poem is lovely. But heartbreaking too. I can feel your pain and sadness in each line. I lost a beloved lab dog a few years ago and right after he was gone, I swear 'he' was in my room that next night. The dresser handle moved where he used to sit/lay. I don't know. Sad...but lovely post. Susan

Greif is palpable some do not believe it, but their time is coming, The mind and our emotions combine to make us see and feel things that others may scoff at, but again, their time will come. I thank you for your fine comments.
