This is such a cute poem. I envy the poet as I could never climb trees being a sickly child. I liked the picture and the green background as well. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I wasn't a tree climber but my children were. I have great memories of them in the trees in the back yard.

The picture is phenomenal. The green is too bright and distracts from the squirrel. The poetry is long and very relevant for children. Second last stanza, last line,.... "oh my no" makes no sense at all!
It's ok to make nonsense with children's poetry as long as it goes through the whole poem. There are too many conjunctions for my liking.

I loved it .It is an ideal poem for the children. Climbing a tree is a favourite past time for many children (who are lucky to see a tree near their homes)The sights described many lovely beings in the nature and it sends a message that nature has many visual pleasures for you to feast your eyes upon.Encourages observation in children. Squirrel, cardinal, woodpecker and blue jay! And after that ants!Loved it .Thanks for sharing.

It is nicely written poem which children would surely enjoy reading. More so with a squirrel in the photo. The lines are smooth flowing and simple making it interesting for the children. A strong contender for the contest and best of luck to you.
