It is so hard to lose anyone we love but the loss of a parent brings its own particular emotional upheaval. I guess we must know it will happen some time but we are never ready for it.

Hello - this is an absolutely beautiful poem and I am kicking myself because I have used all my 6's. It is so moving that I felt tearful thinking of my Mum. Written in good abcb rhyme form, without strict meter but it flows fine and I found it a great read. Genuine feelings came through with this work and it was a pleasure to read. A worthy contender. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

This is an excellent poem on the loss of a dear mother. The first thing I noticed was its voice--one that is pained by loss and speaks with directness, grief, and love. Your poem also spoke to me because I lost my mother three years ago. Your poem says the words I wish I had written. You are right, the death of a loved one depresses you at any age. Thank you for sharing and I wish you the best in this contest and in your coming to grips with your loss.

I am deeply moved by this poem.

Not just for the obvious emotion you have placed in it, and wonderful vision it created of your lasting mother/child relationship - but for the way it was constructed.

I knew you were going somewhere I could tag along when I read

What happens when a body dies,
When the soul, the spirit leaves,
Where does the essence of someone go?

Instead of the usual lamenting, you took me to where my mind, at least, has traveled in trying to grasp the meaning of it all.

Wonderfully written - thank you for sharing this contemplation.

Thoughts of your Mother will never leave you. They are an integral part of your teaching that prepared you for life. Yes. I miss my Mother also but can always hear her keeping after me in my head.

Wow this is very heartfelt,

thank you for sharing so much emotion

your writing flows and has resonance

But it is the deep real meaning that draws me in, and feel your sadness, yet joyful memories.

beautiful

This was just beautiful. So well crafted. It brought tears to my eyes. I have lost a parent and this describes the feelings afterward that linger. Its been over ten years, and I still feel this way. You did a wonderful job!

"A Tribute To Mom (Maggaw)" Losing anyone is a disaster, no matter who it is. the closer we are to someone, the worse it gets. I know this feeling. It gnaws at your soul like a cancer. Well done.

Very sentimental poem, which is the essence of this contest. Makes me want to go and call my mother!

I have lost my father, and understand the musings and pain. It's hard to not have someone you used to rely on quite often.

A mother is truly special, and we should be glad to have whatever moments we have with our mothers. Goodbye is such a difficult thing. Nice rhyming and it flows smoothly. Very thought provoking. Les
