I love stories with lots of dialogue; that's something some writers on here don't do enough of, I think. You've done a great job of letting the reader hear your characters as well as read them.

Again I read smart well crafted dialogue that rolls along with just the right amount of info to keep me going. Someone else is in the house...will the boy's arrive in time? Who is it and why are they there? Maybe they used the secret tunnel into the old house, a house of Civil War secrets perhaps? A good piece.

Regards:

Barbara, you are killin' me with suspense! This is another great chapter, my friend. I don't think Cash should keep the hidden staircase a secret, though Paige has a right to know, and it might make her more cautious, even make her decide to move to another room. I'm surprised Cash hasn't thought of it. Wonderful suspense! Now, more, asap please. :)

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, maybe a bad guy, maybe a ghost, or maybe Walker, or maybe another new puppy for Paige, or maybe I have no clue. LOL

Hi, Barbara, this is filled with great tension, and also the wonderfully deft touch of great dialogue.
It s nice to hear Paige finally getting the low down on Cash, giving her a clear field.

Think you may have a typo, this didn't make sense to me?
As the women visited, Morgan let out a loud growl, then barked.

Great cliff hanger on the end. Looking forward to more.

Hi Barbara:)
I really liked this chapter. Maybe the guys should have told Paige about the hidden staircase. Morgan knows someone is nearby. Maybe Paige has a mysterious visitor who is just on the other side of her wardrobe.

Paige learned a lot about Cash from Mary Pat. Now she knows that he has more family responsibility than she suspected and Karen is no threat to romance.

I suspect Paige will soon learn that any ghostly presence in her house is more human than spirit. I hope the terrible threats are soon resolved.

Love and Irish Hugs for the increasing suspense,

Roger

This is a nice, clean read. No obvious bits to trip on, meaning no grammar glitches interrupted the flow, and nothing sent my imagination other than to scenes the writer intended.

Characterization and dialogue are appropriate to the genre and there is informative interplay between characters to move the story along.

It might be an idea to give a little more information about the puppy's bark...if only because dog's are so sensitive, I would expect the pup to be looking in a certain direction, and/or sniffing (if only at the air). I realize you don't want to "give away" surprises and that can be honored.

"As the women visited, Morgan let out a loud growl, then barked.Paige grabbed the puppy." Did the pup wiggle? Still upset? Mary Pat stepped into the hallway, but was that due to the pup's alert (to direction), or did she, also, sense someone else was in the house?

The chapter ends on an intriguing moment.
Nicely done.

Chapter 37 gets five stars today, as we see more of this interesting tale about a Beantown girl trying to get the hang of a southern way of life. Can it be that access to her bedroom is possible from the secret passage? Tune in tomorrow.

This is so well written and the way the suspense builds up is amazing. As I'm new to FS I hadn't read the earlier chapters but I was so intrigued that I went back to read a few :)
