Thank you for sharing your great personal story. When I was a child, I wanted to learn how to play the piano, but we could not afford daily lunches. As I grew older, and able to afford the lessons, I never tried taking those lessons. It was great to hear your story. Have a great day.

Thank you for sharing this story here. I like that you took up music again after you retired. I am sorry you think you weren't very talented - I can't play at all, so you're already better than I am. Best wishes to you.

This story, Save the Last Dance for Me, is pretty well told. I like the transition from the brothers to the in-depth background of the song. I also believe it needed to come back around to the brothers rather than end with the song history.

I consider myself a true aficionado of 50s and 60s R&R and I have never heard of Doc Pomus. I definitely know "Save the Last Dance for Me", but not Doc.

Only one observation:

Para 7, 2nd sentence: Remove one space from between "was" and "Ben"

This was a really interesting article because you hit on the attitude of many young men back in those days. For me, I wanted to be a Beatle. Took up guitar and ended up playing and singing about as good as you describe yourself doing. But it was fun and satisfying. I did have a short stint in a 60s garage rock band, and we actually cut one record. It must have sold at least 50 or 60 copies.

Fun read, thanks

Gary, Dang 50 or 60 copies sold would be a major hit in my books, LOL, Thanks for reading and catching the typo. Terry.
