I enjoyed this so much, dear Sandra. Sorry I'm so late tuning in. My grandchildren will love this, especially my twin grandsons. They are both explorers and fish crazy. This is so well penned and loved all the beautiful photos of the x-ray tetra.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally XOs.....

Good morning, Sally, thank you so much for coming over and reading this one. It's been a fun project and only has two more to go. Then the hard work starts getting it ready to publish. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one. Thank you. Have a lovely day! :) Sandra xxx

You did a great job, Sandra, with this chapter of your a-z book. You are right in saying there aren't many choices apparent for this letter. The x-ray fish was a good one. Your description of it read well. The facts are great info, the pictures are fun (and informative), the poem was a great introduction, and the art is super. I'm proud to be able to review your work. I know you have worked hard and are near the end--woohoo!

May I suggest one tiny change:
This fish is capable of surviving in many different conditions, but the conditions brought about by human interference makes [ make ] it much harder to tolerate.

Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

    Good morning, Jan,
Thank you so very much for your lovely review and your suggestion. I'll be changing that as soon as I've finished your revew.
Yes, only two left to do. Then I'll be working on it for publishing it. But, I have a new story started. It will go on when this book is finished. It's a test to see if I can write a sort of romantic story. Lol. that explains it well, doesn't it!!!
Thank you, my dear friend, for all your support. I have always appreciated you help. Warm hugs! :)) Sandra xxx

It was very interesting. To be so tiny, the fact that they lay so many eggs is amazing. They must be very small eggs. A see-through body is certainly different, and I can see how it would help them to hide. Only two more? Maybe you can start another book about something else, huh? 8-) I like that it's been a joint effort with your husband providing artwork. How nice.

Good morning, Yvonne, I don't think I'd like to be able to see through my body, can you imagine it?? Yuk. But they are amazing machines. These litte X-ray Tetra have some interesting features that we don't have, I would like to be able to hear as well as they do. Yes, 2 left to go. Phew. Thank you so much for this lovely review, my friend, and all the support you have given me. I might write another one some time in the future, but I've started a new novel, something far different from Erics adventures, and Veronica and Mildreds. It's a bit of an experiment to see if I can write a more romantic story. I've already written over 20.000 words. So it will be interesting to see how it is received on here. Have a wonderful day!! :)) Warm hugs, Sandra. xxx

Looking forward to seeing your new work. I still remember Veronica and Martha.

They are being kept on the burner as I think they will be coming back one day. They were with me a long time.

And Sandra, as always you've written about an interesting fish I knew absolutely nothing about. So there you are. You've taught me something new, yet again. I'm sorry your alphabet is so short. In Danish you would have five more chapters to go. But that is neither here nor there. That Graham of yours is just so talented. Please do tell him. A big hug. Ulla xxx

The Spanish alphabet used to be longer, too. I haven't got the little squiggle on my keyboard, but there was the eNay and then Nyay (the yay is the squiggle, lol) and also the C and Chay. I don't know why they threw them out, because they were used. Oh, and the double LL ( elay, eya) I'm not good with explaining them. But I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm surprised I still remember that!
Thank you so much for the lovely six stars, my friend, and the fabulous review. AND another huge congratulations on your well deserved win. I kept going in to check on you. :)) Warm hugs my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Awe, thank you for doing that. Yes, the Spanish have all those letters. Well done for remembering that. Thanks so much again, for your congrats. It was a lovely feeling to win it, I will admit. This was a first and a first is always special. xxxx

Wow, this was an amazingly well done poem and a great choice for the letter 'X', Sandra. You provided a wealth of information on this little fishy. When I had an aquarium many years ago we had a dozen and a half of these little guys as well as other types of fish. The guy in the pet store was right, as were you in your research, they do need a few others. Great job, a high five to Graham. I can probably figure out the letter 'y' but 'z' will be tricky unless it is zebra. Do take care, hugs and smiles, blessings Alie.

Thank you so much, Alie. It was a relief to find some interesting things about this little chappie, and a surprise too. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it, and that you confirmed my research on them liking to be in groups. I'm sure you had a lot of pleasure watching them. It's so relaxing. Enjoy the rest of your day, my friend. And I'm not saying what I'm researching at the moment!!!! LOL. Warm hugs. Sandra. xxx

You are so welcome Sandra. Oh, I would never expect you to tell, that's a writer's secret. You would spoil the suspense. Whatever you write will be a learning experience for everyone. Blessings.

Hi Sandra.

I wondered where you would go with the "X". You did well. I'm guessing it's a little work to dig into this one but it's fascinating to know that God created a creature that you can see through. If they had any magnification, you could use them as a reading class.

That is a cool little poem you wrote about the fish. Again, you've pointed out how animals can resemble politicians. The fact that they have an internal gas filled organ, reminds me that most politicians are gasbags.
I was interested to learn their bladder is connected directly to their ears. Politicians seldom use their ears so they actually don't even need them... or the bladders.

I hate to make comments like that reviewing one of your stories that I like, but that's the kind of person I am. ð???

Robert

LOL!! LOL!! That was so funny! I don't mind at all, mainly because I agree with you. I should be careful what I write, I could just imagine youngsters picking up on the 'gas filled organ' and having a giggle. But, that is what it is, so I can't change it. Thank you so much, Robert, for your fun review. I'm delighted it gave you a giggle, too. Just two letters to go. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

We had them in our Aquarium. Along with Angle fish, Sword fish, Guppies, I can't remember all of them, but the Angle fish were not Angles and were always killing off the others. LOL This was interesting, Sandra. Enjoyed. Nancy:)

Thank you, Nancy. We had an aquarium years ago, but over time they died off and we never replaced them. They were so relaxing to watch, I remember that. Two letters to go, and then I'll be posting my new story. Fiction, no more non-fiction, to hard to keep researching!! Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I imagine x is pretty limited. I'm glad you chose the fish and not the nasty bugs. This was a very interesting piece. I learned a lot about their structure, their swimming bladder. 300 to 400 hundred babies at a time. A person could be overrun with fish in just one pop. I love your picture of the cat, lol.

I had to put that picture in, it was so natural. Lol. Thank you, Misty. I'm delighted you enjoyed this one, it was quite a hard one to write when you think of the reader target I'm aiming for. But, I hope they will pick up on the pollution aspect and one day, hopefully start to change things. We need them to put right the things we have done wrong. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

It's always interesting to learn about another creature. As a boy I had aquariums with tetra. But I had no idea they could live in fresh or salt water. I guess, we are never too old to learn. But now remembering, that's a tool I've left somewhere and can't find. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. They are fascinating little chappies, aren't they, and I can see how people would like them in their home aquariums. Do you still have one? They're quite sturdy fish when you think of their size. Have a lovely day, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx
reply by Ric Myworld on 06-Sep-2020
No, Sandra, dear, I haven't had an aquarium in many years. But, the last one I had custom made was 6 feet tall - 12 feet wide - and 4 feet deep. I had my own saltwater reef of just over 2,154 gallons of water inset into my bedroom wall, so that I could lie in bed and watch the fish. I miss the tank, but not the bill for it's weekly cleaning. LOL.

That sounds amazing, Ric. There is nothing so calming as watching the fish in the tank. I'd miss it, but not the cost. :))

I could imagine this being a nice read for a young person around 12 years old.
Be wary of complicating things, for example, the bit about what kinds of waters they can be found at and The Weberian Apparatus might fly over the kids understanding. I suggest simplifying it a bit more.
The poem at the start is a nice touch, but maybe tighten up the second half more. "They don't eat food that swims on by/ since they like hunting for/" got me a bit winded.
Eric would love this. Good Luck.
Great work. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the six stars, Abnerdwight, and the helpful review. I will take your advice and see what I can do to make those words more child friendly. I tend to think of them older than they actually are at times. Their knowledge of I.T. is far superior to mine! lol. Thank you again, I'm dleighted you enjoyed reading this one. :)) Sandra xx
