This is a poem from the heart wanting a connection of the heart that hasn't happened yet. But one must remain optimistic if that is your dream, to have a love partner. My aunt got married at 72. I have myself been dateless for 3 years. There are other ways to love and feel loved and be cherished in your community and if the only guys around cannot see past their own insecurities and assumptions then they wouldn't have been good company anyway.

Comment from Ms. Snyder
Awe no that is not true. Keep going - listen there is someone out there that thinks that 70 is sexy! I want you to start to think that - it is a state of mind. You have to believe it for it to happen. Don't think of your number as a chain around your neck. Think of it as a badge of honor and a way of expressing how awesome you are as a person. This poem was magnificent! You are not too old Linda. Let your mind open the doors to the man that is right for you. Men these days will date women with confidence and conviction. You are not an old lady and the sea. You are a gifted and talented person who can communicate effectively and have the love and passion to share. Stay positive and welcome the next as a person, getting to know you and they'd be lucky to have you. It is all the perspective. Men like a chase. Make 'em chase you. They will! Cheers, Fonda

Ms. Snyder: I think 70 is fine. I look about 55 but move much slower than that. It is some others who have the age thing all wrong! Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts with me. Linda

Linda, the turn down is so wrong. Tell these tiny 'mind' Lotharios to go park their vanity somewhere else. The poem is very good, and so honest. Alone but not lonely is the key - DJ

It is a lovely poem, Linda. The world is full of a** *****. (For myself, I gave up even trying to date about 4 years ago. I was melancholy at first, but now I am so happy without the aggravation!) Just know that it's them, not you! Well done with this melancholy piece!

I can relate to this well-written, emotional poem. At 67, I feel so washed up on some says. I hear people several years YOUNGER than I am referred to a ELDERLY. I like the glimmer of hope at the end.

Sadly, It's part of the changes in generations and cultures altogether.
Seniors need to be and are always learning and becoming great resources of information during the times they lived to survive, and their efforts to provide family, friends, historical record.

Hi, Linda. OMG. What nerve of somebody to claim 71 is too old to date. For what? a twenty-year-old? perhaps. A big age Difference yes....but too old, no. Somebody was blowing smoke at you, my friend. I am 80 and still do not consider it "old" Older--yes. LOL Bless you, my friend.

This is really good and very well thought out. You've summed up what sometimes happens in the times and stages of old age. It also sounds like a sad lament because old age is inevitable if we live long enough. I love what you've done with this and how well it flows from start to finish. Great job Linda and well done!

This is an excellent cry in the wilderness(I hope by now you have found a date who respects your beauty) --you have captured the fear and some of the helplessness to growing old--a very enjoyable poem nonetheless and the picture is perfect for the sentiment!
All the Best!
