This is a very well-written piece you have here. Interesting start to finish. The reader can feel your triumph of finding your father, and the heartache of your loss. The excitement of getting to know a brother you didn't know you had. A wonderful journey through and through. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I am so happy for you that you got to find and get to know your dad before he passed on. And now you have a whole new family who has accepted you and has come to love you. :-)

Two nits:

"Dad has spend a great deal of time "

I think you meant "spent."

and

"If I could have hugged him, I would have done. "

I think either adding "so" to the end or deleting "done" will help this read more fluidly.

Wow, what a story, Ulla. This story is the very definition of bittersweet to me. You gain a brother and lose your father. I'm so glad you got to know your brother and to "be" with you father as he slipped away. Thanks for sharing.

A wonderful entry into the contest. We all have our slice of life we either remember good or bad. I think it is wonderful that you found your dad and your brother. It is wonderful that even though you didn't know each other, you instantly knew who was who. Your dad passed peacefully because there were no loose ends in his life. He meet you and you meet your brother and it was a wonderful meeting. He is not a t peace and looking over the two of you. Good luck in the contest. Well done.

Being someone very family oriented, I took this in with emotion, being connected to a broader family would have been An exciting time for you. It was a little sad not being there in the presence of your dying father is a bust, but you were sensitive enough not to disturb your newly aquired family.
