Fun, whimsical tale that a grandfather might tell to his cherished granddaughter. The rhyme is consistent, the imagery playful, and the emotion rings true of a grandfather/granddaughter encounter.

Cheers, Tony;
-what an incredible and an ingeniously creative conceptual theme will butterflies are created from address of the child and blown into the wind to share with the world.
-Her and her grandpa creating butterflies from her dress is a beautiful fairytale of family love.
-Your rhetoric and choice of words created in the rhyming and the body of your work are so contingent to the meaning and understanding of each line that it creates an enjambment the flu fluidly throughout the writing without any errors in syntax or grammar.
-The picture's just melting anyone's emotions And a perfect choice for the conceptual theme of this poem.
-Thank you for sharing such a delightful entertaining piece of poetry which I truly appreciate wholeheartedly and take care and have a good one.
Alex

What a sweet connection between Teagan and you. She is so darling. Good picture.

The two of you have that special bond that doesn't happen to all.

Sounds like you all had fun with butterflies. Lovely poem.

This is delightful. A product really of this modern age when families separated physically by thousands of miles can come together through technology and both can as a result have butterflies.

Great to see more and more people indulging in the wickedness of anapaest. Both you and Gloria today have sinned beautifully in that metre.

A wickedness of anapaests. I like it! Perhaps I should have a go at a sloth of spondees - more my pace these days! This game seems to have stuck. Only the other day my daughter apparently asked Teagan with motherly concern what she was eating. She replied, "Blowing butterflies!"

I love this poem! The title, "Butterfly Kisses" and the photo of your grandchild are precious and lovely. I enjoyed reading this very much and the ballad style added an excellent touch. I also enjoyed your Author's notes which told us about the names of different butterflies. The story you told, while sad near the end, showed how memories can bridge the gap between visits from our loved ones. My favorite stanza is the last one where you used a type of butterfly as a metaphor for feeling the "blues". I did not know the names of the different butterflies until after reading your ballad, but I liked how you integrated their names into the poem within the story of you and young Teagan. The rhymes, meter, and flow were spot on. Thank you for brightening up my morning with this lovely piece.
Take care, Jesse

This is a delightful write Tony and I enjoyed every word and this is what poetry is all about, butterfly fantasy kisses, I loved the line 'she straightway set them free', you opened up the poem here to my imagination and the remainder did not disappoint me, loved it, love Dolly x

Hello Tony!
What a magical poem for your...granddaughter...yes? The focus on butterflies and the magical/mystical nature of play is charming. I can certainly feel the love between the two of you.
One "nit" perhaps: then (Then) very soon across the space

Best always,
diane

Many thanks, Diane, for dropping by to review and for your comments. I agree - 'Then' could be edited to be the start of a new sentence. Much appreciated! Yes - Teagan is my granddaughter. She was with us over Christmas but is now back in New York. Best wishes, Tony

Whodathunkit? Tony, is this really YOUR poem? Of course, I'm not surprised that it's so good, but the genre is unexpected.

But all that, as they say, is neither here or there. I'm certain this work is equally delightful to children and grownups. Even the butterfly names are fanciful!

(When I was a young child, a 'butterfly kiss' was the flicking of an eyelash on someone's cheek.)

Many thanks for your review and and for the six stars, Don. Appreciated. I've written a few lighter, more whimsical poems about Teagan, with the idea of eventually making a collection of them for her, which she may enjoy later - if she's not too busy giving butterfly kisses to boyfriends! All the best, Tony
