These are sweet and practical examples of providing mercy, grace and love to others around us. Tasks that seem to be harder than they really are, somehow. Thanks for this poem, and good luck in the contest!

(their families) and friends gave (them) all that they had.
--> since you seem to refer to both instead of just Gene...?

A wonderful descriptive poem of mercy in everyday peoples lives. There are many times in our lives where there is an opportunity to show mercy, the key is following the inner Holy spirit and doing it. This means putting yourself aside and doing it for others. Sometimes if something feels too hard, say to your self, may I do this as unto the Lord. The rhyming was great and the poem read smooth. Good Luck

This is a wonderful study of human nature -I just wish it came more natural to some. The sentiments expressed are lovely.
