Hi Barbara:)
Doesn't anything scar the Los Zetas as they approach Jim and the women. With twenty air assult team members, I would expect them to be both outnumbered and outgunned.
I have a few comments:
1. Rat-ta-tat of the [Gatling guns] echoed amongst the mesas. (You need to research Cattling guns more. It was the forerunner of modern machine guns, but have not been used by ou rmilitary since WWI. Modern machine guns sound much the same, but have far more fire power.
2, I am disappointed by the realism of this battle, Once the assualt team arrived, I would expect them to hussle them to a safe place.
You stll create plenty of suspense as you indicate Jim was shot. I am certainly ready for more and surely Jim's identity will come out at last.

Great description of action. I can see and hear this taunt scene. The dialogue is tight and your descriptions are vivid. You show a great sense of momentum. There is action throughout, culminating in the cliffhanger of Jim taking a bullet. I will have to wait until the next chapter to see if he survived. Thank you for sharing.

Yes AJ came home. He's now spending almost most every other night out. I'm not to happy about it, but he has a mind of his own.

The good guys arrive just in time, but there is a lot of fight in the bad guys. The black bear displays his magical powers in dodging bullets. Jim is wounded at the end of this section.

I'm not reading this with an eye to detail, and looking for nits. This is my last day with the grands, but a busy one, so I'm just reading to keep current on the plot.
This is the caliber chapter I'm used to getting from you. You make it easy to just read for the fun of it, and not worry about nits.
You always leave us with an ending that makes the next chapter a must-read: "The Gatling gun continued killing the remaining gang members, but not before Jim took a bullet."
