Great description of the life of a drover and it does seem to lack excitement.
Excellent use o enjambment-the words really flowed very smoothly
Good use of rhymed couplets

Great poem! So descriptive and full of good feeling and reality about drovers and horses. Very well written, good rhythm, great imagery, very professional, easy and pleasurable to read.

This is a delightful read! I felt a little sad since this seems to be a lost breed - melting into the pages of history like everything else connected with nature. The opening sets the stage so perfectly as your earthy descriptions of food on the range inspires all the senses. Nicely done and I thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Thank you so much for the comments Monica. The actual time of the drover was 20 years because of the Railroad. That made it a lot easier to ship cattle than to drive them. They lost no weight and brought more at the market. Have a nice day! :<) Nancy

I can hear the clip-clop of the horses hooves in this wonderful poem. It describes a full day of the drover's life with clarity and honesty. The description is vivid and I could see the dust and the moon in my mind. Well done.

Hi, Nancy.

Excellent anapaestic meter throughout, but a couple of tiny suggs:

3rd line, move 'while' to start 4th line.

13th line, move 'you' to start 14th line.

Last line should be [home's]

Excellent imagery and conveyance of a cowboy's life.

Worth my sixer for the original and very interesting theme, plus a REAL 'feel' of their lives.

Cheers, Ray xx

Oh Thank you so much Ray, I will take care of that.I do appreciate your kind words and your help. I knew I shouldn't do that! I was counting syllables. I guess they don't matter as long as it read with smooth meter. Anapestic huh? Thanks so much for the six! Hugs. Nancy

Wow Nancy, this is such a joy to read. It flows
so smoothly and I love the western theme.
Terrific images in each stanza and the reader really
gets the feel for the live of a drover.
Excellent rhyme and meter as always. Great presentation.
