I really enjoyed this poem, the message was really clear,I Liked the line "the things we had now gone" and the last line " knowing the end was close if not gone" really enjoyed it,

I'm not sure why 'gw' is included in the main text.

Anyway, I sure agree it's better to have loved and lost...'

It seems this relationship dragged on too long, but of course the temptation is to hang around and hope things improve. Of course they won't, unless BOTH parties try their hardest at maintaining the love.

Best wishes, Ray.

In my view when it becomes a game whether it's played for friends or fame it is over. At least there was love, only waned. I hope they find lasting love.
'In courage I was first to face that truth,

The things we had, now gone'.
Above quote is pregnant with meaning. It takes more courage to face up to it when it happens. Moving on is easier said than done. I've been there. Well done. Emeka

I enjoyed your poem much, GW. I liked the somber tone throughout and the message is very relatable. Love will always be most poets favorite topic whether it's romantic blissfulness or more jaded.

Well done!
Brian

Precise, succinct and true to
the end gw. A single rose with
the blood of failure. In today's
world that is what happens 'Move
on'. Well worthy of the All Time
Best. Eric

Well, I get this one loud and clear! I am glad you understood it all first. Also, that you moved right on down the line. Great job on this universal subject.

Simply stated, but holding enormous amounts of truth. who is the first to say, we are not the same couple anymore? And to feel the change in the other's love, or lack of love. Love the presentation and subtle rhyming.

I found myself automatically adding a word to the last line

Knowing the end was close, if not already gone.

Powerful poem saying a lot in just a few lines. I particularly like the line:

We played that game for friends or fame

How often does peer pressure enter into our choices in relationships, jobs, where to live & how to live? A bit of a scary thought. The tone of the poem is honest and direct and the ending is perfect:

Knowing the end was close, if not gone,

Along with the haunting artwork, this work is a pleasure to read. Thank you for sharing.

This is such a sad poem. And so honest, about a love lost.

I have come to the conclusion that most times it's for the best.

There is so much sadness in those words.

A good poem. :) mel.
