loved it patty

a little suggestion..
things like - dishwasher, coffee, kitchen....
can you think of a way to describe them in doggy think? imho only of course, i think a little more of the humour at the way harley views the world would come accross - (just like making the man go and lay on his bed if he's naughty...lol - i still smile at that thought)

love and hugs

Hmmmmmm - I agree that Harley would have his own 'doggy names' for such things and I will need to think long and hard on that. Ever since I wrote the story with Harley wanting to send 'The Man' to his room, that is a FREQUENT phrase at our house. Poor Dave - he's starting to think Harley hates him! LOL! Hope you have a wonderful weekend - thank you for reading Harley's latest adventure. ~patty~

A good read about your pet dog. Although it made good reading, and I liked it in a way, here are my two cents. You keep writing about your pets and are typecasting yourself. Suggest you change the subject frequently.
The following spags merit your attention.
Why the mistress got up= had got?
Why did the floor feel weird unlike other days?
finished with the coffee pot-had
pushed the curtains aside.
work, so you can.
few words,but
She was still talking.... Long sentence with too many conjunctions. Suggest breaking it up.
if he was in trouble-were?
feel better,
felt heavy, and

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I do write about other things - I'm currently working on a novel about childhood abuse. Writing about my pets is a great tension reliever - I'm also in an MBA program where I'm doing a lot of technical writing. As always, your reviews are very thoughtful and give me great insight - I appreciate your time and thoughtfulness. ~patty~

What a great little story! The descriptions and prose are engaging for the reader. I could imagine the pup at each phase, waking up, bummer that he can't go outside right away, then the 'getting used to' phase of the first snow. What fun!

Thank you for a great read!

Hi, Sally. This is a cute short story as you know. Of course you are a dog-lover and that helps for the realism of the story. I would emphasize a bit more that this was the first snowfall for Harley. Good job. Bravo! Bob

Hi patty. Another great Harley adventure. I love how he played so hard that all he wanted was his cozy bed. Your descriptions of his reactions to yours is always fascinating to me. You are surely tuned in to him, as he is to you. I so enjoyed this latest adventure. Kind regards...Bev

Glad to hear (and see) that Harley is doing well. It's always fun to see animals--cats or dogs--experienc snow for the first time.

I'm so glad you read my latest Harley story. I might be able to squeeze out a poem this weekend, just depends on my muse, how much homework I feel like doing and how my hubby is feeling. He has a horrible cold and I'm getting to take care of him. Usually, he is a lousy patient, but he must feel pretty bad - he is allowing me the luxury of waiting on him. ~patty~

I love these little stories about Harley told from his viewpoint. It's always funny and fascinating to watch animals in their "first" snow--it's almost as much fun as watching a child for the first time in snow. Love the write.

Patty,

This is an excellent account of Harley's snow day. Most winters, we get just an inch or two of wet snow, and it's gone by the next afternoon. But last January, we got eight inches of dry snow on frozen ground. Our Scotty hated the stuff, but after Pollywog broke some trails, he could get out without being buried to his neck.

I enjoyed this read and have one suggestion:

"This was a special time of day." I don't think you need this sentence. You've just said that Harley loved this time of day.

Dave
