My goodness, this poem is touching. I felt the strenght of emotions as the bird was held. It is well written and reads beautifully aloud. great job.

I believe the Creator gave us what we need to survive. Somehow we lost our way and began to place hope in technology instead of the Creator. Those of us that have survived disasters know how quickly technology can become non-existent. I remember well post-Katrina days. This is a beautiful tribute to the honorable soldier and the humble pigeon. Thank you.

An interesting focus for a poem, taking an aspect of war most wouldn't think of and using it emblematically. I think this is a marvellous piece, and extremely well written.

This is a very touching poem with good imagery.
It contains and shares such compassion. It is an easy read. Your author's notes were helpful to assure that the reader gets the full meaning of the poem.

Hello, Victor. Amazing how we as humans take such things for granted. You are right in your author's notes of course. This is a splendid poem...I truly wish that I had a six left to give you. Bob

A worthy tribute to this most remarkable creature. I wonder how many know anymore how valuable they were in the wars; how they served and saved so many soldiers with the critical information the carried home. Thank you for this appreciative and informative poem. janbar

I read this first before reading you notes, so at first I thought of a man holding his racing pidgeon before a big race, one on which his life savings had been bet.
After reading your notes, I read it again with new eyes.
You have managed to convey some very imotive thoughts, beautifully composed and a sense of awe at holding life in one's own hands.
Well done.

Wonderful imagery and thought provoking even without the authors notes. I particularly favor "fellow life within my hands" for many reasons--one among them that we should consider this is true, even when we aren't holding a bird. The flow of expression is smooth, moving along with the kind of build up that culminates properly in a completely illustrated thought. Very well done, V. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Roberta
