I like this poem very much. I myself like writing about nature. What a great description of the magpie. As I drive to work every morning I see these beatuifull birds. This poem is well written.

I always enjoy work that praises the handiwork of God. Birds are truly fascinating. Can't say I have seen or heard a magpie.

Well written and said, I love magpies they are amazing birds that have their place in folk law and many a nursery rhyme through-out England, they love shiny things and have the reputation of pinching anything that shines.
Very creative and captivating, well thought-out.
Well done, thanks for sharing and take care. Rudy.

This was a wonderful poem Aussie! I think, while we were in the car, my mommy was in the passenger seat with the window a quarter down and all of a sudden, a bird pooped and hit the side of the window. It went down the middle of the window and it hit my mom in the arm!

You did this poem just right, Aussie. You made it so that the reader knows what you are talking about and so the reader can understand. I am glad that you are here from this day forward, because I hate it when people die. If I knew you were in a car accident, I would have cried. I would have said is she all right?

Your poem is fantastic. My favorite line in it is, "but not one man that I have heard throws back his head in such a song of grace and praise-no man nor bird. Their greed is brief; their joy is long. For each is born with such a throat as thanks his God with every note." I like those lines because they just made the poem come together because I think it means that everybody enjoys a song but it's just squeaking, but they are singing that song to God because it says in the last line that they thank God with their singing.

James, What a lovely review. I am here because it wasn't my time to die; obviously God had more work for me. I love you for just being you. I love all God's creatures, great and small. Thanks so much for the six star rating my little friend. Blessings, Kay.

Thank you Kay for loving me for who I am. If, when people don't die after horrible stuff, that means God does have other plans for you. I hope you stay on this site forever and ever! From your best friend! James.

This is a wonderful poem! Your images are splendid and your humor is a wonderful background for what you are telling us about these birds. (I never knew magpies sing)From strolling conversationalists to vulture-like behavior to opera singers; each of their incarnations is described perfectly.

Yes, they do sing, chortle, chatter and squawk. We hand feed them and they bring their young to meet us every year. Thanks for the great review! Cheers, Kay.
