This gave me the good "Hallmark " inspired kind of goosebumps. It was a feel good read that reminds us of the reason. We give and no matter how the recipient feels, we feel good. I used to tell my kids that anonymous giving is selfish. You give to help, yes, but you probably get more than than the recipient does. To give and expect a return or payback tends to muddy the waters. I loved reading your uplifting story this Sunday morning. Gretchen

I love hearing about random acts of Christmas kindness. I'm so glad that it still happens. Let's a person know that there's still a little hope left in the world for goodness after all, when day after day, all we see are attempted take-overs and wars, and all we hear are threats of more.

??? Maybe age has caught up with me for I do not get how the story ends. Was the 'older' gentleman the man who wrote the check? Was the woman really Nicole when the Rev went to give her rest? Did she have a miscarriage or was she a professional player doing what they do best in taking advantage of another? I liked the story but remain confused.

Recently, I helped a woman named Deedee who had lost her mother 3 years ago.
We met at a place for lunch called Ken's kitchen outside the Catholic Church on a Thursday.
And, she claim that her mother was shot and killed!
Yes, three years ago.
She also said she had seven daughters and one son in the military.
(all in boot camp?)
Yes, and that she was a sibling of 17.
She had lost her house in South Carolina with first hurricane.
Yes, and then went to live in Fort Myers with her father and that house got lost also.
She's almost 55 but has been a widower now for 19 years and claims her husband died from lung cancer.
Never said the name of any of her children except her son because she claimed his birthday was a couple days ago nor has ever shown me one picture?
I never got her last name cuz she was never going to tell me.
I argued more with her in the brief period we knew each other then the entire 20 years I was married!
...
She was invited back to New Jersey from a childhood friend, yes who lied to her, didn't even own the house, and abused her.
This woman she called,
"Crazy Holly" had been living here 3 years, taking advantage of an old man in this 80s.
(He owned the place)
And, as I got to know her more by taking her in and feeding her .
Also, letting her do her laundry and bathe.
I soon realized that she was a hacker taking advantage of me.
Yes, until I finally had to let her go.
She stated in 1968, when she was born it happened in a plane.
A plane that was going to crash?
Yes, and as the pressure was building, as the plane was going down...
Her mother felt the pressure and it was, as if herr insides were coming out ?
Yes, but it was to be her twin sister!
And, when she gave birth!
Yes, as that plane was about to crash?
Her twin sister was violently ripped out and thrown out the window to her death!!!!???
And, what was odd?
She was born next?
And, that also didn't make sense?
How her mother and her both survived?
Until three years ago when her mother was shot and killed?
And there was other mysterious things about her situation.
Yes, and at that point.
I came to realize, when she started making up lies about me!
That there was something seriously wrong.
Because we got into an argument!
Yes that she was mentally ill.
...
I thought of my story when you were telling me about yours which was a little bit odd also.
This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with no Grammar Issues.

A lovely story about his kindness and generosity! Acts of kindness like his don't require to be paid back, and he obviously understood her deep financial need. A well-written story, but I think quotation marks would improve it for clarity.

Wayne, thank you for reading. I did not use quotes for a couple of reasons. I thought they would distract the reader from the story the Reverend was telling. There would also be quote marks within the quote marks. In short, there were going to be a lot of marks.
There are a lot of what I call FRP's (Furious Red Pencils) waiting to mark up a story, and they don't read the content.
I originally had marks in the story, but I did not like the way it looked, so I thought the content was more important. I hope the long response answers your question. Terry.
