Hmm, while the rhymes are strong, and the metaphors deep. The reader doesn't know what land you or what democracy you are speaking about. We don't know how, in this context fascists are defined. What great minds? Things are too vague and should be made clearer.

Well, if you are confused I would suggest more study of history and how poetry is the use of simile and multi-metaphoric language. Or, see how others react to this poem and if your take conquers

Potent and powerful! It makes its point quickly and firmly. I like poetry like this.
My only complaint is the font. Bad eyes need bigger font. Older people will skip if they can't read it and you lose reviews.
Also, I think that a Nazi flag or a picture of Hitler doing the seig heil would definitely grab attention and drive this powerful piece home.

Despite the pains that always accompany growth, America maintained its standing among all other nations. The accomplishments of its statesmen, its athletes, its entertainers; singers, dancers, actors, comedians, etc. The world celebrated our genius, bought our inventions. We were as nations go, the best. Then in the span of one single ill fated election, we became the laughing stock, the object of reproach. Due in large part to the acceptance of the single most unbearable oaf, buffoon imaginable. America as king is dead, long live the king.

You are very right about the war in Ukraine and Putin's destruction of this once beautiful and fertile country. I really feel sorry for the people there. They suffered so much. I really want this war to end.
