There were a lot that survived the Vietnam war, but they were treated like war criminals, and although it was an inglorious ending, they may as well to not have been, they may have been affected bu that. Yes, my brother was wounded there, but he's pretty even natured anyway, so suffered little. PTSD is seemingly rife, beautifully written acrostic, blessings Roy

This is a major issue in society right now with all the gulf vets.

The author's words are heartfelt, upsetting, descriptive and creative. The author convey the anguish and suffering that inflicts the pain of a veteran. Thank you for the author's notes - the background is always helpful. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork goes well with these words.

Ciao poet and welcome to fanstory!

For decades America has sent its people to fight wars. Most of those that have the luck to return, are physically and/or psychologically damaged. In the past, I read that veterans received little support from the government.
I can see not much has changed.

Your words describe a harrowing reality for far too many.

The six-star review is for the emotional content and the rhyme which makes your poem flow well.

PS. This tug of war between America and Russia is being fought on Ukraine's soil. America wants to weaken Russia's military and economy, so the longer the war continues the better. .. your leaders have found a way not to send their own soldiers for once.

Ukraine soldiers and mercenaries are fighting while America got a $40 billion Ukraine aid package approved (arms and medical help etc).

keep safe and

Ciao!

Thank you for your wonderful review and all so true words. It has always dumbfounded me how much effort they put into a person when they enter the military such as boot camp, medical, dental, everything that you can image. I spent five years as a US Marine. Honorable discharged in 1992 during a recession. No job help. No follow up 'how ya doing' call, No mental heath check-up. Haven't heard a word from the government since 1992. Astounds me that there is no follow-up care. Anyways, appreciate your awesome rating. This issue is near and dear to me.

Honesty, It?s a disgrace. I would be angry.

It must have been difficult to find your way once back home. I hope you at least found support from your family.

    Thank you for sharing

    Ciao!

I am sorry for the pain your family member is enduring. I understand how military life impacts people. My brother and two first cousins are Vietnam Vets. I was stationed behind the Berlin Wall before it was torn down,
I have a few suggestions that will hopefully make your poem better. The message is clear and stated well. However, the font size is too small for most senior readers on this site. Enlarging the font will make your message more prominent and will encourage more people to engage with your text.
In an acrostic it is good to make the first letters larger, bold or a different color so the word being spelled vertically stands out. I would change the title of the poem to "Painful". This is a writing you want to stand out because many people who were never in the military do not understand the emotional/invisible scars of war.

Your acrostic contest entry painted a sad, but true, picture
of many vets who are/were affected for a lifetime from their
service in the military. Your words flowed smoothly, the rhymes
worked and your message was clear. I suggest you make the
font a little larger and darker in color. The image is perfect.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan
