It happens all the time here in the UK, too, Nomi, and I just hang up on them as soon as they start talking. They annoy we so much! I loved your poem, it said it all, and brilliantly. Well done, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. It seems that this is a universal problem with not a lot of helpful suggestions for a solution.

You hit a nerve here. I can sympathize with you. I, too, am flooded with phone calls. I do not answer calls unless I recognize the name and number.
Occasionally, I get a call that my Amazon account has been charged. If I give them my credit card information, they can clear it up!
My neighbor had an aggressive caller who left a message that since she would not answer the phone, he would call her at 3 AM, knowing she was home. He did call!
Best wishes,
Mary

What a bum, may the next time he put a phone to his ear, I hope a giant spider crawls into his ear. That would be poetic justice.

-I like the image and thought you were going to write about Obama, which would have been fine, too!
-Your notes are appreciated, and telemarketers are extremely annoying. Even legitimate companies are in on it!
-You wrote a good poem about the situation.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-The third verse is the best one because you manage to make the examples work with the rhymes very well.
-A good concluding verse.
-The worst thing about this is how innocent people are duped and then lose all of their savings or accounts are broken into.
-Do you have a 'block' function on your phone? That helps.
-Have a good day, too!!

The calls all come in on my landline and I have an answering machine that records all messages. At the end of the day I simply delete all the messages and clear the slate for the next days incoming calls.

Thanks for sharing. We have the same set up with a landline phone.

Nomi, I feel your pain. Junk mail is easy to throw away. Junk phone calls just keep coming. The worst for me is "buy an extended warranty for your car." I already did from the dealer three years ago. And, "buy mortgage insurance to pay off your mortgage." I don't have a mortgage. Where do they get their leads? Good job. Terr.

Thanks brother, I swear, I have received three or four back to back calls from different numbers with the exact same prerecorded message. If I had a gun and my wife would let me, I would fill my phone with bullets. LOL. I'm not really that violent, just venting.

All is well, thank you. My dear sister, it is very heart warming to hear from you. It makes my spirit rise and rejoice to know that you are well and prospering.

How annoying it is to receive these telemarketing calls and I empathise with you. Fortunately they haven't got a hold of my phone number yet! A clever, well written poem that amused me, such poignant words here, love Dolly x

Oh, how this poem rings true--pun intended. I am tortured nearly every day by some outfit called Potential Spa. I don't answer, and they don't stop calling. However, as a result of your poem, I did learn of a do not call outfit.
I liked your poem--it sure resonated with me. Thanks for posting.

I imagine every person who reads this (and I hope there are many) will all be emphatically nodding their heads!

Landline or cell phone, these "SPAM" calls are at best annoying and at worst downright attempts at extortion!

I registered my landline at the link below, and the number of calls has decreased dramatically.

Those that "get through" are met with a decisive "I am not interested." -- and a hang up.

It's fairly easy to block SPAM calls on your cell phone--or adjust your settings to allow o my calls from your "contact" list.

The link to register on the do not call list is:

I think we can all appreciate the frustration here! Telemarketers are the worst. I remember when I was like 15 getting calls about my car's extended warrantee. I did not have a car. It's just funny what they call us for, honestly.

I hear you. It is frustrating because these calls fill up my answering machine and I have to spend the time deleting the calls so that I don't miss call I want to receive from persons I am willing to call back even.

Yes, most of us get such calls, some from overseas scammers spoofing a local area code and number. Any call purportedly from the IRS, PayPal, or other entity known to use only standard mail or email, respectively for the ones mentioned, should be ignored. NEVER say the word "YES" to any suspect caller, lest it be recorded and later used to make it seem you agreed to something (often expensive). Your well-written poem with good rhymes effectively covers the annoyance. Superb, and aptly illustrated for the reason you gave.

You are most welcome. I see the correction of the typo, so I have removed that comment to leave you a clean review.
