I think you are very creative when it comes to writing, straight out of "Writers Block", but this was not then time to be that creative. Nevertheless, you are doing your thing. Keep Writing

I love the simplicity and honesty of your essay. You must have learned a lot of grammar since you joined fan story, as I did not notice any errors at all! Yay, you! :-)

I found this very moving. It is perhaps a form of therapy and is providing healing. I too write simply for pleasure, but also to grow in my skills. It is helping me to think and remember, and learn how to appreciate my past, the bad along with the good. I wish you success in the contest. I too have found that most people are kind, respectful, thoughtful and helpful, and some are becoming lovely friends.

Hi there,

I think, if a lot of folk are honest, that many feel the same way. It's difficult to put a finger on why we do this. I also think that it changes over time as well, even from day to day. Sometimes there's a desire to get something down on paper, sometimes, it's a chore and at other times it can be incredibly cathartic.

As long as it's enjoyable, it's al good.

I am so glad you found FanStory and started writing. I am, however, very sorry for the loss of your son. Grief is a difficult emotion to handle because it can be so raw, and even when it settles into a place we can handle, it doe snot go away completely. I, too, have found writing to be cathartic. This website is a wonderful one for meeting some super people, and learning to improve our creative efforts. Best wishes in the contest!

An interesting story and I am sorry for your loss. I have a 13 yr old son and so I can empathise to a certain extent. I also haven't figured out what makes me want to write. All the best to you

You have taken an honest and analytical look at why you write, and concluded it may be a hobby that is fun. Many FanStory writers would say the same. But when you write, it gives you an opportunity to look at your life situations and sort things out. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts and it's made me wonder why I write. I think your reason for writing is the best I've heard so far. Your grammar is now good, and you have written about the things that mean the most to you. Maybe it is like cats, just gotta have them or write.
