This poem, April Love, presented in 8-6-8-6 iambic quatrains, starts the reader off anticipating the arrival of the yet unknown flora which is finally identified and we have a name to go with the nice snapshot. Nice.

These camellias are gorgeous flowers and one of the early ier blooms to liven up the garden. This is a neat, ballad metre piece about them too. One suggestion only. I feel that 'when earth, awakened, thrums' feels more natural to me, though your version is not wrong.

Beautiful picture of the flower, and very expressive words you have used to describe it. Great rhyming and a delight to read. Your first line "Perfection in a single bloom" shows the greatness of our Creator - so many different flowers, yet everyone is perfect and unique.

One always has to marvel at the sheer genius of a creator who has the imagination that most of us would love to mimic to even a small degree, but then we can rejoice in the fact we're made in His image, rather than what the world fashions His image in. Your poem is expertly done. My favorite was the opening stanza with the wonderful descriptions! Hope you do well in the contest!

Hello Helen. I do love camellias and when this one is in bloom, I visit it daily. :). I agree that they are very similar to dahlias. I will post one of those when they bloom this summer. Thank you.
