From a Clint Eastwood character, to the drifter, ending in a spiritual question...who what, and why.

Good to see the idea of character and story.
A very well done.
My best wishes,
RGstar

Wow. I could hear Johnny Cash recitin' this one. The loners of the westering century are still iconic to Americans, though probably not to the extent that they were to those of us born in the40's and 50's, when a large percentage of TV was westerns. The poem leaves me with questions: why was No Name so aloof, restrained, so alone? In the cinema and literature of The West, we are usually given only hints, not explanations. The hints in this poem are tantalizing, but don't lead very far. We don't know what Ol No Name couldn't take anymore, and it seems clear that the gals he occasionally saw were probably paid for their time. The poem moves well, with a meter that would suit Johnny Cash's style. It was fun to read and fun to guess about.

Isn't it funny? Why some folk cut themselves off, almost like it's too much to make an acquaintance, we all need people, I'm one of the lucky ones, I've got a caring family, but I don't know what I'd do without that family, but there are those that don't, beautifully written Willie, you're a good writer, well done, blessings Roy

There are some people who seek to live their live anonymously, forgetting that God knows your entire story and no matter where on earth you go, you are reachable. The best news about this is that he is not intrusive, but when and if you need him, he is always nearby.

This poem, Ol No Name, tells a neat story of this private, yet well studied person, whose life was only known from observations and not conversations. Alone to alone.

-Nice artwork and presentation, Willie.
-I enjoyed reading your poem and story.
-You do a good job characterizing this man,
"oak tree tough."
-Seems he remained a big mystery in the town
as he would ride in, stay briefly, and ride out,
no one knowing his name.
-I like the last two closing couplets.
-An enjoyable read; good luck in the contest.

This is a great story. If you fixed up the meter, you would have a classic. Having a good imagination is very important when writing a poem. It looks like you have one.

Your poem is very well done, and tells a great story about this man who had no name. I like your closing verse:
"Here lies Ol' no name, at peace at last.
God knows your name, as well as your past."
