hi there
a neat take of fastest and biggest isn't always best... we all need to find that special niche where we can out perform all the others. - Lobber

This is more than a horse story to me. They say you can do any thing if you put your mind to it. True, but to what degree of excellence as compared to another? For example, many athletes hope to go pro but a minority do

I guess it is the preparing and working for what you want that counts. At least one can say "I tried." Not everyone is not suited for what they want. Thank you.

Your narrative poem is well-plotted with plenty of details, very descriptive,
entertaining, and appealing. It conveys an uplifting theme about finding one's place in life and not giving up if Plan A doesn't work.

I guess Joe just needed to find the right job. The racetrack was the wrong place for him. He wasn't cut out for racing. And doesn't every horse dream of being a cowboy?

What a fun poem. I reads well aloud. I enjoyed reading it. The rhymes are good, the smooth flow adds to the overall presentation, and there is great imagery. I could see this slow horse. I'm happy he found his niche.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Yeah Willie, before God fixed up my gambling tendencies, whom I became a Christian, my problem was the horses I followed were only interested in following other horses. An excellent post, very witty and written with a great narrative story, and abcb rhyming, well done, blessings, Roy
Typo : Joe wasn't a fast ho(r)se.

Slo' Joe

Hello, Willie,

I like your little story about Slo Joe... it's sweet.

I'm not sure if you meant to write hose for horse

No, Joe wasn't a fast hose

Finally, it was agreed,
he just wasn't (very) fast. (adding very makes it fit better with the other lines)

No, Joe wasn't a fast hose (horse)

There wasn't a better ranch horse (remove but)
than ol' slo' joe. (good ol' slo' Joe)

Other than these small edits, I thought this was a good short piece about finding your niche. Great work, thanks for sharing. Later daze.

This poem does a nice job of taking an easy to read story and using it to portray an important life lesson. I really like the lines, "There's many things a horse can do / without being fast." There are many ways to find success and fulfillment and life. Sometimes, it just might be difficult to figure out exactly what they are.

I loved it***********and I so agree with you. Dopn't know why I can't give you 6?????? I like poetry that rhythms. I also don't like big words that I have to look up in the dictionary. What I mean is obscure words. I also do not like to have to read something 5 times to sink in. Give me the plain old joe poems, ones that even my 12 year old grandson can understand. So thank you for giving me the pleasure of reading your poem. And FYI I do have a high IQ.
