Hello Debbie. This is an interesting poem of 2-4-2. I wasn't sure if the Eveready was for batteries since it was uppercase or if it was a description of the status of a sharpened pencil, Eveready to write.
It was an interesting use of the word. It gave the reader multiple interpretive options.

Thank you, Robert. I had to rewrite this one. My poor "untooled" brain was wrong about Eveready making tools. I thought that they had expanded from batteries. Anyway, now I'm using CRAFTSMAN. It works even better.

Hi Debbie. I liked at the rewrite and it is great using Craftsman.

How kind of you to look at it again. Don?t Eveready batteries keep going and going. I?ll use that analogy in the future.

Hi Debbie, Your mind is as sharp as the pencils in this picture. Good use of using the brand Eveready in your poem. I notice that you write a lot of 2-4-2, 5-7-5, for contests. They're all good and to the point, good luck in the contest. Dove

What a nice thing to say. Thank you, Dove. You are so right about me and the short poems. Sometimes I feel as though I am writing ads and poster slogans. I only dream of writing excellent long works.

That's clever to use a brand name as an adjective as well. I usually think of batteries when I hear that name. Ah, pencils - are great took for artists and writers. Great use of all the syllables! Best wishes in the contest!

Oh, thank you, lyenochka. I've had to change my poem entirely thanks to your comment. I thought that Eveready had expanded into tools, but no. They are just batteries.
Now, I have switched to CRAFTSMAN. It works so much better. Thank you, thank you.

Your mind is sharp and ready to win this one. Superb and aptly illustrated, too. Nothing reminds me for readiness more than newly sharpened pencils and paper. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the contest,
Sally xoxo

I absolutely loved this. Word play is great. There's a good reason why this is well received. I like it more than my own entry. Good luck.I'm not really sure what it means to be honest. I do like the sound of the words, but what is it a metaphor for? It doesn't really stand out in my mind as a metaphor I know of.

This 2-4-2, Durable Goods, has the right set up and 'leads' us know that a thought can become a sentence with the help of a pencil. Nice.
