A serious subject explained in a humorous way. I imagine that being together twenty-four, seven would be rather difficult, especially in the beginning. I hope it works out for you both

    Hello Lance,

Thanks for your comments. As you said, this is a serious subject. The experts say that a large number of divorces are reported shortly after retirement due to being thrown together after all those years apart.

    Have a great day Lance...Bill

Wise words to the young! I'll remember this for when I retire in 30+ years from now. Luckily I have several hobbies lined up that will win my wife over like baking. (I make a great lemon meringue tart)

    Hello George,

Thanks for your review. Hey, 30 years will blow by very fast. I can remember saying, "well only 30 more, then 20 more and so on. And now, I've already been retired 19 years this June.

Just thinking about that meringue tart is making me hungry..LOL

Hang in there George and have a great day...Bill

I have been married for 48 years and appreciated your good advice. Fortunately, I retired first, which made the transition easier with other interests like FanStory. I admired your rhymed quatrains and wish your well in your joint "castle". Be well- Joan

    Hello Joan,

Thank you for your excellent review, I appreciate it. Yes, I agree, as long as we have other interests and hobbies away from our better halves that allows both to have some "alone time." I believe that's the key.

Be well also, Joan. This virus is spreading fast, so be careful...Bill

Too much togetherness is not a good thing...

How true this is! I think that is the cause of most divorces. Spending a few hours with someone may be fine, but 24/7, people start to get on each others nerves. These are wise words, my friend~Debbie

    Hello Debbie,

Thank you for your great review. You hit the nail right on the head. According to the experts "most" divorces come within 5 years of getting married AND within 2 years after retirement. Sad, but true.

    Take care of yourself Debbie...Bill

LOL - Well, there's no such thing as retiring from home chores. This was fun to read. And, yes, it's not such a good thing when married folks are suddenly spending too much time together. Hugs, Lou

A wonderful observation on marriage, love, boundaries and it rhymed too.
A little scary perhaps for anyone edging towards retirement but as one retiree to another a balance can be found, hobbies are a very good idea, keeping the mind active and the person absent works.

Thank you for your wonderful review, I appreciate it. Yes, you are exactly right, a balance can be found. It's just a matter of working together as a team.

This is a funny poem but I have an idea your are exaggerating for the sake of humor. It is quite a shock to have to deal with a husband all day long and having them think they are just going to lie around while she works.
Actually, it was the other way around for me. He retired way before I did. When I did we both had our separate hobbies. You are right, no matter how much your care about the other person too much togetherness is not good. Everybody needs their space.

    Hello Beth,

Thanks for your excellent review, I appreciate it.

No, there's no exaggerating here. I personally have friends that have basically gone through this. It happens, and yes too much togetherness definitely is not a good thing.

    Have a great day Beth...Bill
