Hello JLR, and fine poem with good use of alliteration with the letter W. Very descriptive with a very unusual, rather difficult rhyme scheme, but a lovely read. Thank you for posting. Good Luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

Beautifully written! Thank you for introducing a new word to me. I've never heard the term "winnowing"! Love it! Your poem creatively describes the word in detail!

Thanks for sharing! xoxo

Beautiful poem about winter, which I love, although I find myself in the minority! It is 2 degrees here with 2 feet of snow. Really too cold to be outside, but so cozy inside looking out. I love the third stanza. This poem is so descriptive with such beautiful imagery. The image you have chosen is so beautiful. Best of luck in the contest!

A lovely observation of the winds of Winter and their ability to strip to the bare bones. A good storm will just about shake everything loose. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the contest,
Sally :)

What wonderfully written words with such well wrought rhythm and rhyme. I love how you worked in such delightful lilts of alliteration. Deftly with a dare, decayed leaves demoting, winter season waxes. Lovely lift to read on this windy winter morning.

We are dealing with dreadful gales at the moment, I wish we had those lovely gentle breezes. :)) You've written a delightful, highly visual poem, with your very descriptive words, JLR. The sights accompanied by the gentle sounds, are a feast to enjoy. Each couplet has something different to offer, and I enjoyed it very much. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

-Very nice image, JLR.
-Very good imagery and rhyme.
-You paint a vivid word
picture of the winter winds.
-I like the opening with "whoosh"
and the personification of the trees.
-I also like how you continue
that idea toward the end with
"winter seizes hold of time."
-Good luck in the contest.

I don't remember the form where you can 'hear' the words and the senses are totally involved but this one is done perfectly with all the different descriptive words Nicely done

Hi Barb I believe the word is onomatopoeia a word that actually looks like the sound it makes,

As we battle with wind of over 70 miles per hour today, it is pleasant to read of less extreme conditions. I like the whole of this poem very much, but if I had to choose one line it would be the last one "Willowing breeze, winter season waxes." I find this very powerful, and it is nice to leave on such a highnote.
