Good luck in the contest with this tender and heartfelt free verse poem about your mother's support and love. The photo is precious. Since you still have your mom with you, include her as much as you can in everything. You'll never regret it. Marilyn

This is a lovely tribute to a woman who spent her life caring for children and making sure they had all they needed. She did go above and beyond basic care, as in the example of cleaning your entire dorm room before you moved in.It is easy to see why you want to be here for her now. Everything she has done for you makes you want to do the same for her. This is a great poem and a good contest entry, Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem with understanding. I appreciate the beautiful review you wrote, and the way you truly grasp the kind of woman my mother is.

I have the same kind of mother. She is almost 95 and is perfectly fine mentally but is starting with physical challenges. There is nothing her daughters would not do for her. Your poem really resonated with me.

I was going back over my reviews and it's beautiful to see that you've also known this kind of motherly love. May God be kind to both of you, and to your sisters. I'm glad my poem touched your heart.

What a beautiful poem in tribute to your mother. She sounds like a dedicated mom who loved her children. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope you enter this in a contest.

Thank you so much, Rosemary, for your excellent and moving review. She is, absolutely, a dedicated mother - even though she is largely incapacitated from the waist down, she still expresses it. Just recently, speaking on the phone from the rehab she's in right now, she reminded me to remember that she always loves me; "I'm always on your side." Love, so deep!

I have a question, maybe you can help: how do I enter this in a contest? Isn't it entered into the contest automatically, when I post it? I am fairly new to FanStory, and I am trying to understand how it works. Thank you.

If you selected the contest entry on the top of the page (under contests) it will be entered automatically. It has to be an excellent review. No worries here; you have met the requirements.

I love the expression of genuine love for your mom in this poem. It started with your mom bonding with you by expressing her love and encouragement for you. That is why you love her so much and I appreciate your passing on this message to others. This kind of enduring love is so lacking in today's world. I understand the part about the germs since I married an Italian lady who was the same way. I also understand the powerful impact of lost that changes you forever since she died from brain cancer. Merry Christmas!

Thank you, Bill, for your beautiful review, and for the Exceptional rating. Yes, we do need her type of interpersonal devotion and care in this world today, and I thank you for your appreciation of my message, in sharing it. I'm deeply sorry for the loss of your wife, especially to something like brain cancer. Mom's best friend died from it, too, and it was a long and difficult illness. We really endure so much in this life, and we need to cherish the ones we love, while we still can. God bless you and your family. Merry Christmas to you too!
P.S. Mom's Italian too! And now I'm the one who's concerned about germs :-)

This is a great dedication to your mother. I especially enjoyed the verse about your mother coming to clean your dorm room with pine sol.
Thank you for sharing as it deserves the six stars.
Excellent work!

Thank you so much, Leanna, for your beautiful review, and for the Exceptional rating. Yes, watching Mom go with the Pine Sol was an amazing and memorable experience! I just had to include it. Like a good mother, she also enlisted my cooperation in assisting with the job. Later, when I got some used furniture, I tried to use something else on it that was too strong, and regretted it. I should have followed Mom's example more closely. We live, and learn! Yes, she did her best to prepare me for the world, and still hasn't given up! Love is forever.

I felt like that about my mom too. So sorry about the loss of your brother. My sister died 2 years ago and it was extremely difficult. Your poem is well written and a wonderful tribute to your mother. All the best, Laura.

Thank you very much for the Exceptional rating, and for your beautiful and touching review. Yes, I did intend for it to be a tribute to my mother, and I'm glad that comes across. I'm so sorry you lost your sister - two years ago is quite recent. It's been almost 15 years since we lost my brother, but we will always miss him. It was at just about the three-year point that my grief was like a scar instead of an open wound, but I am sure it varies from person to person. As bad as it was for me, it was so much worse for my mother. There's nothing like a mother's love. Best wishes to you, too.
